My husband came to me and said he loves the name Pepper and I do actually really like it!

What do you think?

I'm guessing everyone's going to say noGrin

My cat is Pepper!

I’d never call a human child that, though.

BackforGood · 15/01/2020 00:09

Don't be ridiculous.
You aren't naming a cat, or a doll that you can abandon when you grow up.
This person will carry that name for the next 90 odd years.

Topseyt · 15/01/2020 02:08

I wouldn't. I'm in the camp that thinks of condiments and pigs.

LolalolaLola · 15/01/2020 02:50

Pepper Potts. She was awful.

Count me as a 'no', too.

NotPepper · 15/01/2020 10:56

My name is Pippa but I get called Pepper a lot - I think most of my work colleagues think my name is Pepper.

I work with a lot of people from Africa and also quite a few from India and I'm not sure if it's a pronunciation thing but a lot seem to struggle to call me Pippa and call me Pepper. Occasionally Piper.

I've given up correcting people and answer to any of those 3 now. Nobody has ever said about Peppa Pig. I get a few Pepe le Pew jokes.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 15/01/2020 13:26

@NotPepper but you weren't a child when Peppa pig was created

Poorolddaddypig · 15/01/2020 14:24

I actually like the sound of it BUT i also travel/wok abroad and Peppa Pig is everywhere! I’m currently in China and it’s even huge here... I don’t think you can escape the pig association!

Jamhandprints · 15/01/2020 14:26

Pepa is a spanish name. I like it :-)

Angie6868 · 15/01/2020 19:29

A friend of mine has a little girl called Pepper. I didn't like it at first. Now I love it

74NewStreet · 15/01/2020 19:33

What made you love it? If I heard someone calling Pepper when out and about I’d honestly expect a dog to come bounding over.

BoswellsBollocks · 15/01/2020 19:39

Pepper was on my list for DS2 had he been a girl. I say my list, dh was having none of it.

Interestingly I do genuinely have a Dr. pepper at my GP surgery though.

Urkiddingright · 15/01/2020 21:52

Salt is better.

Ihavehadenoughalready · 16/01/2020 02:48

I knew a dog with that name, so i couldn't do it.

June705 · 16/01/2020 02:51

Oink oink

AlexaAmbidextra · 16/01/2020 04:05

Well it’s ok for a condiment, but apart from that, bloody awful.

Dhalandchips · 16/01/2020 04:31

Silly. And you've clearly made your mind up so wht bother asking. The home schooling thing is obviously irrelevant, unless your children are not going to mingle with other kids. There are bullies in the home Ed community too.

squeamishsquamish · 16/01/2020 04:46

Call it Toejam.

WelcomeToCranford · 16/01/2020 05:11

I know a Spanish lady called Pepa. In the UK, Peppa Pig would be the association.

Tombliwho · 16/01/2020 07:23

Lovely for an animal. You should probably think more highly of your child though!

Horses4 · 16/01/2020 07:32

My immediate thought was Pepper in Good Omens, for whom it’s a nickname from her full name of Pippin Galadriel Moonchild Grin

mumtumdocare · 16/01/2020 07:42

I absolutely love it. Sassy, cute and unusual. My kids have unusual names and this is why my policy was to not discuss their potential names publicly until they were born as people can be awful about them. 100% your decision. You don't need to justify it with the home school thing. I think of Gwyneth Paltrow's Pepper character in Ironman, ste was perfect!
Good luck 🍀👶

loserssaywhat · 16/01/2020 07:48

It's cute. We had a rabbit called pepper.
I don't know I'd name a child pepper though.
On the fence with this one.

74NewStreet · 16/01/2020 10:34

Sassy, cute and unusual Grin. Well, it’s one of those, certainly.

Skyejuly · 16/01/2020 10:35

Peppa pig and I cant stand that pig.

Pepper anne

MurielTheCamel · 16/01/2020 10:38

A friend of mine has a Pepper. She is a chocolate labrador though.
