Helena, Georgia or Lydia?

Hello, we will be ttc within the next few months and I'm already thinking of girls names!
I love Helena, Georgia, Lydia, Victoria and also Bryony (although DH doesn't like this one so unlikely I'd get to use it for a future DD.
Possibly also Eleanor.
I seem to go for girls names ending in 'a' with Bryony being the exception!
Any other ideas please?

For boys I like names such as Jonathan, Christopher etc.
Thanks

Ideas for middle names too if possible please?
I love Ivy and Grace

I love your list, with the exception of Georgia, which I have a strong aversion to, though I love Georgina.

The others are all classic names, so you can't go far wrong with any of them. I love Helena, Lydia, Jonathan and Christopher. But then I love traditional, classic names, especially the underused ones.

Your names are all lovely.

Scrap grace as a middle though - it's very common as a middle name and is a bit of a filler, along with Rose and May, and like Louise or Anne in the 80s. Maybe pick something meaningful to you.

Januaryjanuary · 05/01/2020 10:38

@DramaAlpaca me too, love the classy names. I already have a son with a very traditional name.
@diddlediddle
Ivy was my grandmothers name so want to try and use this. I see what you mean about Grace, it seems very overused at the moment for middle names. It's a pity as it's pretty! I remember in the 80s every girl in my class had Louise as a middle name!
Other female family names for me are:
Irene, Harriet, Florence. Perhaps these could be potential middle names

Lydia - one of my all time favourite names.
Congrats op.

TARSCOUT · 05/01/2020 10:42

Love all your main names except Briony, sorry OP. We don't have middle names.in our family, not actually sure what the point of them is now that I think about it, is it just honouring a family member?

Spied · 05/01/2020 10:43

Helena Grace
Boys- Isaac

Beamur · 05/01/2020 10:47

I think that Georgina and Georgiana are nicer than Georgia.
Cannot get any enthusiasm for Ivy as a name.

Soawesome · 05/01/2020 11:02

Helena and Lydia are lovely.
I dislike Georgia though love Georgina and Georgiana.
I'm not keen on Victoria; it has a very 70s feel to it.
I would go for Helena myself (although it rules out a future Eleanor).
I like:
Helena Iris
Helena Lucy
Helena Sophie
Helena Nancy
Helena Catherine

PlantPotting · 05/01/2020 11:58

Love Eleanor or Lydia

Halleli · 05/01/2020 12:13

I don’t like Georgia - bit of a ‘naughty girl’ name in my experience.

I love Lydia.

Peacefrog23 · 05/01/2020 12:37

I like georgia and Lydia. Also think bryony is nice x

Other ideas

Mila
Lila
Isla
Layla
Thea
Aria

Ellmau · 05/01/2020 12:59

I like Lydia the best of your choices, but they're all nice.

If Bryony is likely to be off the table for future DDs, why not use it as the middle name now? I think it would flow very well with a first name ending with a.

Biscuitsneeded · 05/01/2020 13:15

Other names of that ilk are:
Marianne
Sophia
Julia
Louisa
Frances
Katherine
Harriet
Jane
Maria
Caroline

ironicname · 05/01/2020 13:17

Lydia is beautiful and classic. It's familiar but there aren't very many of them.

MrsSiriusBlack1 · 05/01/2020 13:20

I went to school with a Lydia, nice girl but her nick name was Lydia dustbin Blush

Poorolddaddypig · 05/01/2020 13:29

Lydia or Eleanor my favourites 😍

FluffyEggsontoast · 05/01/2020 14:07

Love Lydia

How about Imogen

FluffyEggsontoast · 05/01/2020 14:07

Adore the name Eleanor

missmouse101 · 05/01/2020 14:16

Totally baffled by the Lydia love. It's really awful and harsh with the horrible 'lid' sound predominating. Georgia is pretty. How about Cassia, Faye, Sasha or Lowenna?

FluffyEggsontoast · 05/01/2020 14:16

Victoria is lovely but it’ll likely get shortened to Vicky. Would you mind?

OceanSunFish · 05/01/2020 14:18

Lydia is my favourite.

Januaryjanuary · 05/01/2020 14:25

Lovely ideas thank you all.
I wouldn't really want it to be shortened to Vicky in childhood but as an adult I'd let her decide.
Lydia is a long-term favourite of mine.
Love Lowenna too.
I'm going off Georgia a bit!

Depends how you would pronounce Helena?

Januaryjanuary · 05/01/2020 14:27

I also like Ksenia (sp? it's Ukrainian or Russian I think?) but we don't have any connections to those countries so would be a bit odd to use it.
Cassia is gorgeous
