Please help me decide on a name! I think I have gotten to the point where I have looked at so many baby names I am beginning to overthink them all!

Please help me decide!

Lumi - meaning snow in Finnish, I do love this name and baby is due in dec so the meaning fits well but research suggests it also means prostitute in Spanish :/ also the name of a nappy brand - Pampers.Would they get called loony argh!

Rumi - japanese meaning beauty, flow, lapis lazuli.

I love this name and I actually think it sounds nicer than Lumi, but people just say it as in roomy. I hear it differently I guess, short, fresh, cute.

Remi - also nice but a little too common for me.

Enya - meaning little fire - many people associate with the singer.

Romy - not mad on the meaning.

Aiya?

Kiana?

Or suggestions with names similar to the above?

Thanks

Are you looking for a girls or boys name , not heard of most of the names you’ve listed so don’t want to presume

Sparklingwater12 · 18/12/2019 10:59

A baby girls name :)

For my personal taste my favourite from your list is definitely Enya or possibly Romy. I'm really not too keen on Lumi and Rumi.

Astronica · 18/12/2019 11:40

I like Lumi, Rumi, Enya and Romy. My favourite for you is the lovely Lumi with its sweet sounds and meaning.

I like Kiana.

ilovemykids5 · 18/12/2019 13:08

I like Lumi and kiana
How about romily?

SyntheticPumpkin · 18/12/2019 13:15

I like Rumi, although would probably go for Rumer and use Rumi as a nickname.

Eira (means ‘snow’ in Welsh), Ayala or Ayla as alternatives?

diddlediddle · 18/12/2019 13:26

Rumi is lovely! Lovely meaning, sounds fresh. Really like it. Definitely the best option.

tobee · 18/12/2019 13:46

Rumi makes me think of rheumy eyes

Sparklingwater12 · 18/12/2019 14:00

Oh no tobee what does that mean!?

Sparklingwater12 · 18/12/2019 14:01

I've just looked it up, that's the worst connotation I've heard yet aha! Rheumy eyes

I think you'll be able to find a "bad" connotation about literally any name.

No one goes on about Willy for William or whatever. And that's way more obvious than the tenuous connections people are mentioning here

ikeakia · 18/12/2019 14:25

I have a Kiana!

DonPablo · 18/12/2019 14:26

How about Romiley?

ikeakia · 18/12/2019 14:28

She’s 11 and it’s a good mix of unusual but not too out there. Only know of one other locally but fits in due to other similar sounding popular names.

Sparklingwater12 · 18/12/2019 14:54

Definitely, connotations can be made for all names, you just have to look for them.

Kiana I think is lovely but I am still leaning towards Lumi or Rumi - Enya or at the rate I'm going the baby with no name!

LarkDescending · 18/12/2019 16:23

Romy is the one I like best from your list.

Suggestions: Elka, Minka?

Persephione · 18/12/2019 17:59

I love the name Enya, like a more beautiful version of Anya, and I personally don't know the singer in question, do they chart regularly? If so the majority of people probably won't have that association. I wouldn't worry too much about name meaning, as someone said above every name is bound to have some negative association or other. As long as it doesn't have that association to you!

Throwing some others into the ring for you to consider!
Kali
Maeva
Lyra
Eira
Alessi

Persephione · 18/12/2019 18:00

Oops forgot to say Eira also means snow, so you would still get that meaning without the looney associations with Lumi!

17caterpillars1mouse · 18/12/2019 19:27

I like Lumi best

Sparklingwater12 · 18/12/2019 21:25

Lumi is one of my absolute FAVOURITE names - so pretty, but cool and a gorgeous meaning.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 18/12/2019 22:32

I like Romy the best - Enya is nice but just makes "Sail Away" play in my head, sorry.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 18/12/2019 22:34

Liana is pretty. Or Elena?
