Hi everyone, what do you think of the name Indie-rose for first baby? Thanks!

Sorry really don’t like hyphenated names

Why force everyone to have to say two names each time they speak about your child when most people just use one name. It smacks of arrogance to me when people insist on two names while the rest of us are fine with one but I’m sure that’s just me being silly but I suppose you’ve asked for our opinions so just being honest

BillywilliamV · 15/12/2019 06:17

It’s too much like Indie-ref, please don’t hyphen.
India Rose is lovely.

daisypond · 15/12/2019 07:05

It’s awful, sorry, in every way. Scrap the hyphen. And Rose as a middle name. And Indie as a first name. India is even worse.

pictish · 15/12/2019 07:09

Not keen. I don’t think the two names flow together well.

Rainbowqueeen · 15/12/2019 07:12

I really love India Rose with Indie as a nickname. India works better for all ages IMO but Indi is more a little girl name

pictish · 15/12/2019 07:13

Plant - I get what you’re saying and I think I agree. Two names seem needlessly elaborate to me too.

PenelopeFlintstone · 15/12/2019 07:17

Indira Rose
Indiana Rose

FenellaMaxwell · 15/12/2019 07:17

I like India but not hyphenated, and definitely not with Rose - as you can see from the amount of people popping cup on this thread to say “that’s my DD’s name”, it’s very popular. I think Rose and May are the current middle name equivalent of Louise in the 80s - every other girl has it for a middle name!

bugsnfonzmama · 15/12/2019 07:23

My daughter is called Indie and her middle name is Alice. People always compliment her name. There aren't many Indies out there which is great at school etc - if you like it do it. There will always be people who don't like the name you choose.

cptartapp · 15/12/2019 07:38

Don't like it, lots of Indys and Indies around at the moment (of both sexes) with parents thinking they're different. Sounds like an abbreviation with good old Rose in the middle.

Mamabear88 · 15/12/2019 07:38

It's dreadful, sorry. Hyphenated first names scream common to me, especially the rose part. I used to work with the most chavvy woman who has an Ava-Rose. It does seem to be a trend.

CodenameVillanelle · 15/12/2019 07:40

Terrible. Hyphenated names are pretty much all awful, and adding 'Rose' either as a middle name or half of a hyphen is SOOOO boring and overdone.
Indie is quite sweet but would be better as a nickname for India or Indira or maybe Indigo if you're that way inclined. With a different middle name.

Aragog · 15/12/2019 08:22

I prefer India Rose - no hyphen and India rather than Indie.

mathanxiety · 15/12/2019 08:35

India Rose is much nicer. Or even India-Rose. (I have nothing against hyphens.)

Indiana is a crappy state. Don't call her Indiana.

RexDangerVest · 15/12/2019 08:46

Agree Rose, May & Grace are almost every young girls middle name! I think Indie is fine but definitely wouldn't hyphenate and would choose a different middle name. Or Rosie as a first name?

miahadalittlelamb · 15/12/2019 09:57

India rose. No hyphen. Indie as a nn

Betterbegoing · 15/12/2019 10:00

I personally don’t love it.
I am not a fan of hyphenated first names, I think it’s clunky and a bit.. overdone, but do love Rose for a middle name.
Indie, I mean, it’s not a name. India or Indiana, sure, and shorten to Indie if you like but at least a ‘proper’ name gives more options. Best to imagine them as an adult, rather than just a baby or cute small child.
Congratulations Flowers

pooopypants · 15/12/2019 10:02

Makes me think of someone who lives on a ranch

RipleysCat · 15/12/2019 10:09

Most people will try and shorten any name for ease, so you will have to accept that eventually every one will call her by the first name.
Tbh Indie sounds like a pretty low end name.

helpmum2003 · 15/12/2019 10:14

India Rose.

Gives the option for her to choose NN or not. Hyphenated will always be judged as chavvy.

Poorolddaddypig · 15/12/2019 10:33

I think it’s a lovely name but if I’m being honest, hyphenated names get judged quite harshly and seem to be seen as ‘chavvy’ even if they sound nice. So I’d go for Indie Rose without the hyphen was

StanleyWalkersThirdWife · 15/12/2019 22:03

Indie is a cool name. I wouldn't hyphenated though, I'd probably go with Indie Rose as a separate first and middle name. But then again Rose isnt my favourite name, it feels like a filler name if I'm being honest.

tamarisk44 · 15/12/2019 22:12

I love India with Indie as a nickname!

TheReluctantCountess · 15/12/2019 22:13

I don’t like it. Imagine her being an adult and going for an interview.

girlsname · 16/12/2019 08:27

I like Indie and love Rose but I wouldn't use the hythen
