Just throwing names around for future DC2.

Currently have a Robyn.

We both like Charlie (Charlotte- but only on BC) for a girl.

Do you know a female Charlie? What’s your opinion?

No. It’s horrid, sorry. I’m not keen on Charlotte either but it’s better than Charlie.

MikeUniformMike · 23/11/2019 14:04

I know 2 female Charlies. I'm not keen but I like it for a boy.

Tonz · 23/11/2019 14:05

My friends daughter is a Charlie even on her birth certificate her sisters are Georgie and Bobbi I love them but I’m a Toni myself

olivo · 23/11/2019 14:07

I love it. I wanted Charlotte nn Charlie but I couldn't.

Leopardprintboots · 23/11/2019 14:08

I think it’s a great name

ParkheadParadise · 23/11/2019 14:10

I like it.

Spied · 23/11/2019 14:10

Love

DramaAlpaca · 23/11/2019 14:11

I don't like it for a girl. I do like Charlotte, but with Lottie as the diminutive, it's much classier than Charlie (sorry)

BertrandRussell · 23/11/2019 14:12

Why not give her a girl’s name?

june2007 · 23/11/2019 14:15

Give her the full name charlotte, call her Charlie then if she decides she wants to be called Charlotte, lottie, lotta then she can. Don.t like it as a nam,e in its own.

SoftBlocks · 23/11/2019 14:17

No.

SilverBangle · 23/11/2019 14:18

Isn't it Charlie for a boy and Charley for a girl? I know 2 Charlie's (boys) and 2 Charley's (girls) 🤷‍♀️

2000partyoveroops · 23/11/2019 14:21

It’s a shame to give a child a nice name like Charlotte only to relegate them to having to use a name like Charlie day to day.

AlrightMo · 23/11/2019 14:25

How is Charlotte, with the nickname Charlie not a girls name Confused?

Seems a mixed bag.

Grufallosfriends · 23/11/2019 14:26

Charlie is a cute nickname. I know two, one is Charlene, the other Charlotte.

Grufallosfriends · 23/11/2019 14:27

Of course it's a girls name if short for Charlene or Charlotte!

Grufallosfriends · 23/11/2019 14:29

Just like Alex is a girls nickname for Alexandra! Or Sam is for Samantha!

Cookit · 23/11/2019 14:31

Yes I’ve known a few, all Charlotte on the BC and known as Charlie.

It’s not my favourite diminutive for Charlotte (I like Lottie) but I have nothing against it. I know one is still exclusively Charlie as an adult and another I think chose to become Charlotte eventually.

AlrightMo · 23/11/2019 14:32

Exactly Grufallo!

I don’t like the spelling Charley so if we were to use it, it would be Charlie.

And of course she would be able to pick her own name as she got older, but most people I know who had their names shortened as children, tend to stick with the shortening into adulthood, e.g Joesph/Joe.

I don't like Charlotte but I love Charlie!

Themountainsarecalling · 23/11/2019 14:49

I have a Charlotte, she insisted on being called her full name when she was small, so of course we did use it. As she got older she was quite happy to be called Charlie and mostly referred to herself by that name.

She's just Charlie all the time now, unless it's for formal documentation.

Maywedding · 23/11/2019 17:35

My name is Charlotte. Ive always had lots of complaints and feel it's a strong name. It wasnt popular when I was named but very popular now so that might be a consideration.

I love Charlie Smile my cousins little girl is Charlie, full name, in honour of his late dad.

Anyway both great names. Go for it!

MikeUniformMike · 23/11/2019 17:55

Maywedding - why are they complaining? Charlotte's a nice name.

KSxx · 23/11/2019 19:37

I'm all for gender neutral names and I think Charlie/Charley is one of them, no matter the spelling. Lovely name!! Don't overthink Op

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 23/11/2019 19:38

I don’t like Charlie for a girl.

I like it for a boy though.
