Charlie (girl)

Just throwing names around for future DC2.

Currently have a Robyn.

We both like Charlie (Charlotte- but only on BC) for a girl.

Do you know a female Charlie? What’s your opinion?

I know two adult Charlies. Both Charlotte on bc. One uses Charlotte professionally, the other is Charlie all the way. Both awesome.

namina · 23/11/2019 19:44

Love it

Dyra · 23/11/2019 20:14

I say go for it!

I'm a Charlotte and I accept being called any nickname related to my name except Lottie. And since your daughter will have Charlotte on her birth certificate (which I think several PPs have missed) she has that option too.

AlrightMo · 23/11/2019 20:18

Yes Dyra - I’ve heard of selective hearing but never selective reading Wink

It’s the only name we’ve sort of agreed on, and glad to see there is some love for it.

Charlotte is a good formal name, with Charlie as the nickname. But if she prefers Lottie or something else, you must respect that.
I'm Alison/Ali, and I like it. Formal names and and nicknames present different facets of a personality. I like having both.

Thetimetravelerswife · 24/11/2019 04:27

I like Charlotte but not Charlie. But that’s irrelevant because as long as Charlotte is on her BC she can be nicknamed what she likes.

CleanAndPaidFor · 24/11/2019 04:33

Whatever name you suggest on here, some people are going to like it and some aren't. That's just life. What were you hoping for? Name your child whatever YOU like.

Astronica · 24/11/2019 04:49

I like it. I've come across several both boy and girl Charlies. It makes a great nickname for Charlotte.

AlrightMo · 24/11/2019 10:12

Well yes Clean but the baby names board would be very quiet with that mentality.

Gathering opinions to ensure you’re not giving your child a name that would cause problems is surely best? But thanks for your input - it was what I was hoping for Hmm

I’m a Charlotte and my username is how I spell my nickname. I’ve always been Charley, as neither of my parents liked Lottie. People spell it either way though, doesn’t bother me. I have lots of nicknames; Charlie/Charley, Shaz, Chas, Sharles, Charlottie, Lottie Lou....

17caterpillars1mouse · 24/11/2019 20:22

I like it. I know an 11 year old Charley on birth certificate. It's a nice name

YesIReallyDoLikeRootBeer · 24/11/2019 20:34

I know one Charlee. That is her name not a nickname.

5LeafClover · 24/11/2019 20:38

I like it...and it goes really nicely with Robyn.

Mamabear88 · 24/11/2019 20:42

Charlotte is lovely, Charlie is not.

aibutohavethisusername · 24/11/2019 23:01

I prefer Charlotte but Charlie is OK.

Helenlegs · 24/11/2019 23:08

I really like it as a nn for Charlotte. When she’s old enough she will no doubt have a preference for whether she goes by her full name or Charlie/Lottie. I like names that have scope for a few diminutives.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 24/11/2019 23:11

At school, I had three friends called Charlotte, all went by Charlie day to day. It's definitely a fine name for a girl. I like it.

Yestermost · 24/11/2019 23:17

I love the name Charlie for a girl/woman.

xTinkerbell · 24/11/2019 23:30

I like it but would spell it Charli for a girl

Hopingtobeamum · 25/11/2019 00:57

Obviously biased...I'm a Charlotte, sometimes a Charly (as we already had another girl in my class called Charlie), occasionally a Lottie and rarely a 'Lotts'.

I love my name, but I am biased.

Am sure whatever you choose will be right for you x

lisag1969 · 25/11/2019 01:48

Hi I know a few. But I think the girl version is supposed to be spelt. Charley.

BonBon411 · 25/11/2019 02:17

We have a Charlotte in our family who is known as Charlie and it completely suits her.

CleanAndPaidFor · 25/11/2019 06:58

Alright Good. So you'll name your child whatever YOU like, regardless. Good outcome.Hmm

MikeUniformMike · 25/11/2019 08:59

Please don't spell it Charli.

Gallivespian · 25/11/2019 09:02

I think it has a hideous eighties vibe, like Sam for Samantha.
