Really struggling with girls names. These are our current favourites but can't decide on one. Can you let me know what you think of each of them? Open to suggestions based on these too!

Bridget
Claudia
Eliza
Juliette
Josephine
Hazel
Matilda
Imogen
Heidi
Eleanor

Eliza

The rest are hard or over used or too contemporaneous. Hazel is nice but a bit rabbity - can't immediately think of the book or film - had representations of nazism v myxematosis. Got it. Watership Down - shoukd never have been a U.

MrsBertBibby · 10/11/2019 19:00

Bridget not keen.
Claudia quite nice
Eliza ok
Juliette no
Josephine no no
Hazel no no
Matilda so overused and I don't like it.
Imogen good
Heidi no
Eleanor pretty name but a lot of Ellies around.

Nina
Celia
Bryony

LucileDuplessis · 10/11/2019 19:03

My favourites are Claudia and Juliet (I prefer this spelling).

Least favourites are Josephine and Eleanor.

Robs20 · 10/11/2019 19:04

We have similar taste! Dd1 is Eliza and Matilda was our second choice. I also like Heidi and Nina. Not a massive fan of the others.

champagneandfromage50 · 10/11/2019 19:10

hmmm difficult. Names are not only very personal but regional..so Hazel is popular in Scotland for example but viewed as bland elsewhere.

I dont mind your choices, my favourite from your list is Juliette purely because i know none! I would add Juno, Jemima, Georgina, Charlotte, heather, grace

jfoyo26 · 10/11/2019 19:14

I like Eliza and Imogen.
Josephine would make a good middle for these.
I don't mind any of the other names eitherSmile

You're spoilt for choice I wished we liked so many names!

busymummy19 · 10/11/2019 19:18

Heidi and Imogen are the best on your list IMO. Not keen on Josephine

IggyAce · 10/11/2019 19:23

Bridget : not keen
Claudia : no
Eliza : like
Juliette : like, pretty and under used.
Josephine : no
Hazel : nice
Matilda : nice but popular.
Imogen : love, but am biased as I have one. DD mn is Evangeline so you may like that too.
Heidi : like
Eleanor : not a fan

jonathanvanness · 10/11/2019 19:23

Thanks for the input. I absolutely love the name Juno and would name her this in a heartbeat but DH is really not keen. Juliette is his favourite which I do love too but am not 100% sold just yet. I do find girls names so much easier than boys but we were both very decisive on a name for DS as soon as we found out the sex.

I love Juliette. Eliza is also really nice. I’m not keen on any of the other names (including Juno -sorry!).

KindnessCrusader · 10/11/2019 19:28

Bridget and Hazel are my favourites from your list. Good luck! Thanks

MissHenty · 10/11/2019 19:29

Eliza or Imogen - such amazing and interesting names. I love the sound of them

AfterSomeAdvice1234 · 10/11/2019 19:30

Eliza is nice. Prefer Brigid to Bridget.

siriusblackthemischieviouscat · 10/11/2019 19:30

@OhTheRoses - you are thinking of watership down I think.

I love julliette but like lots of names u love I don't like the shortened version.

jonathanvanness · 10/11/2019 19:32

@siriusblackthemischieviouscat yes I know what you mean, I don't like Jules at all. Think she would be Lettie for short but not sure if that's too much of a reach!

OhTheRoses · 10/11/2019 19:36

Juliette - under used Shock. As tragic as Ophelia, but ....
There were three Imogens in every clsss dd was ever in. She's 21. So imo that's hugely over-used.

Loveislandaddict · 10/11/2019 19:37

Love Claudia and Eliza.

Alternatives
Harriet
Clara
Freya
Anna
Teresa
Sadie
Jennifer
Georgia

OhTheRoses · 10/11/2019 19:37

OP - you will have no sway whatsoever over any child's nn.

bridgetreilly · 10/11/2019 19:46

Bridget: Excellent choice, obviously.
Claudia: Lovely
Eliza: I like it
Juliette: Prefer Juliet
Josephine: nn Josie. Sweet.

AdaColeman · 10/11/2019 19:53

Heidi and Imogen are my favourites.

I'm not keen on Bridget Eliza or Hazel.

I would have Juliette in favourites but not keen on Lettie as nn.

FizzyGreenWater · 10/11/2019 19:55

Juliette is lovely. This, or Josephine.

mylaptopismylapdog · 10/11/2019 19:57

Francine, could be shortened to Frankie.

jonathanvanness · 10/11/2019 20:02

@mylaptopismylapdog I love Frankie but really not keen on Francine
