We have a super long short list and have reached the stage where I just want someone to tell me what name to use!

Below is our current list...although husband doesn't necessarily agree with them all I'm hoping I can still change his mind!

Matilda Dixon
Clementine Dixon
Florence Dixon
Daisy Dixon
Xanthe Dixon
Romily Dixon
Francesca Dixon

Mabel Dixon
Cecily Dixon
Margot Dixon
Beatrix Dixon
Nancy Dixon
Alice Dixon
Etta Dixon
Georgia Dixon
Thea Dixon

Any other suggestions welcome!

Thanks

Which ones does your husband like? If bob what name has he suggested @user714205 ?

user714205 · 02/11/2019 14:42

He really likes Nancy (I'm not convinced) and Daisy (it's a cow and also I'm not sure I keen on her being a double D but he tells me I am overthinking it....), oh he also wants Storm....

Matilda Dixon - LOVE joint favourite
Clementine Dixon - LOVE LOVE LOVE! Favourite
Florence Dixon - LOVE
Daisy Dixon - LOVE joint favourite
Xanthe Dixon - No sounds masculine to me
Romily Dixon - don’t like - sounds masculine and too like “Roman”, might get mixed up.
Francesca Dixon - no the Francescas I know are nn “Franny” 😬🤭
Mabel Dixon - LOVE joint favourite
Cecily Dixon - no don’t like the sound of this name. Too many “s”s and sounds like Silly
Margot Dixon - LOVE joint favourite
Beatrix Dixon - LOVE
Nancy Dixon - LOVE
Alice Dixon - LOVE LOVE LOVE - classic elegant joint favourite
Etta Dixon - it’s ok
Georgia Dixon it’s ok
Thea Dixon it’s ok. Sounds like Rear to me

I LOVE so many of your names - you have a GREAT list. I’ve picked my favourites above

I’d stick with a name off your list but here are other suggestions

Coral
Willa
Ottilie
Delilah
Edith (Eddie)
Margaret (Maggie)

MissHenty · 02/11/2019 14:45

@user714205 absolutely no way to Storm sorry but I LOVE daisy and think it sounds great with surname. I also like Nancy. What are your favourites from your list?

NameChangedNoImagination · 02/11/2019 14:46

Think about Etta and teenage teasing with your last name.

I love

Matilda Dixon
Florence Dixon
Xanthe Dixon
Francesca Dixon
Mabel Dixon
Margot Dixon
Beatrix Dixon

NameChangedNoImagination · 02/11/2019 14:46

Storm as middle name.

kimlo · 02/11/2019 14:48

Etta or Thea.

Or Thalia.

IVEgotthePUMPKINS · 02/11/2019 14:54

Love Etta but

Ate a dick son Shock

Thea is nice

PsychosonicCindy · 02/11/2019 14:57

Love Florence! Love Daisy, think the double D sound is really nice. One of these I reckon!

MissHenty · 02/11/2019 14:58

Yes I love Florence too. Will add that to my favourites list x

MissHenty · 02/11/2019 14:58

@PsychosonicCindy agree with all you’ve said Daisy Dixon sounds so so cool 😎

user714205 · 02/11/2019 15:44

Thanks for your help everyone! ESP for spotting the Etta issue! I will try out Daisy a bit more....

Florence was our definite favourite for a while but then thought that it was getting a bit too popular....

Matilda Dixon - Lovely name but so many around
Clementine Dixon - Clementine is a fab name but I’d be worried about nickname Clemmie (reminds me of ‘clammy’
Florence Dixon - See Matilda
Daisy Dixon - This sounds SO great! I love it!
Xanthe Dixon - No
Romily Dixon - No. Romilly is a weird name. Where did it even come from? I’d never heard it before naming boards, I’ve never met one, I’ve never seen it used anywhere... and yet it’s always suggested. Also reminds me of Rommel.
Francesca Dixon - No! I hate Francesca! Don’t understand why so many people on Mumsnet love it.
Mabel Dixon - Amazing!
Cecily Dixon - No - I don’t like Cecily. I think the nickname would be ‘Sess’ which reminds me of ‘Sesspit’
Margot Dixon - Amazing!
Beatrix Dixon - Love Beatrix but doesn’t sound as good with surname as some of the others
Nancy Dixon - Amazing!
Alice Dixon - Nice
Etta Dixon - No! Agree with a PP about teasing when she’s older!
Georgia Dixon - Sounds a bit dull
Thea Dixon - No, doesn’t compare to the others

MissHenty · 02/11/2019 17:14

Another vote for Daisy Dixon

user714205 · 02/11/2019 17:43

Ah interesting that everyone likes the double D's annoyingly I still think of Daisy as a cows name!

What about Delilah?

OP posts:
Peachbubble · 02/11/2019 17:49

Clementine is my favourite

LarkDescending · 02/11/2019 17:50

Delilah’s not a favourite of mine, but it is good with Dixon.

Otherwise maybe Flora Dixon?

LarkDescending · 02/11/2019 17:50

Or Fenella Dixon?

LarkDescending · 02/11/2019 17:52

Actually scratch Flora Dixon - too much like iron supplement Floradix!

Accountant222 · 02/11/2019 17:52

Francesca Dixon, nn Franky

BingsDracSula · 02/11/2019 18:03

Romily, Etta or Georgia. Francesca if you will shorten to Frankie.

MissHenty · 02/11/2019 18:12

Delilah Dixon is COOL @user714205

user714205 · 02/11/2019 18:57

Yep if we did Francesca would def be Frankie but now all I can think about is fanny and dixon....might have to scratch that one!

Matilda Dixon sounds lovely. My vote goes to this

missmouse101 · 02/11/2019 19:21

Only like Romilly and Georgia. Normally love Xanthe but doesn't work well with your surname.
