Baby is due in five weeks, we're pretty set on a boys name but girls we can't pin down.

I was down to Hazel and Iris at one point but the other two have since come into play...

Thoughts? Are they all awful? Which is the best? We're in Scotland if that's in any way relevant and my two sons have very Scottish names.

Mirren is gorgeous, as is Hazel x

JoanJettPack · 29/10/2019 12:08

Mirren is beautiful. I love Iris, too

PotteringAlong · 29/10/2019 12:09

Iris or Mirren

zippyswife · 29/10/2019 12:11

I love them all. The first 3 were on my list but I had boys

bridgetreilly · 29/10/2019 12:12

Iris would be my pick followed by Heather and Hazel.

I don't like Mirren at all.

putputput · 29/10/2019 12:17

Really want to know what your boys name is as your girls names are very similar to my list and I am stuck for boys!
DD1's name is very similar to Mirren and we have had so much positive feedback about it.

MikeUniformMike · 29/10/2019 12:19

Heather.

OverthinkingThis · 29/10/2019 12:19

Iris is my favourite from your list.

I've not heard 'Mirren' before, but I know a Merryn which I think is nicer.

formerbabe · 29/10/2019 12:20

I'm not keen on Mirren
Heather sounds middle aged to me, I can't imagine a child with that name.
Iris is the nicest imo.

RockinHippy · 29/10/2019 12:28

Mirren is the best by far. Miri is a sweet NN too

Others are awful

Manicpixiedreambitch · 29/10/2019 12:39

I have an Iris, but Heather is nice and quite unusual these days

Uponreflection · 29/10/2019 12:40

I’m not keen on any of them sorry. I’ve never heard of Mirren.

hungryhippie · 29/10/2019 12:47

Like them all except Mirren.

ilovemykids5 · 29/10/2019 12:56

Iris

DramaAlpaca · 29/10/2019 13:02

I like them all. I met a toddler called Heather recently and I thought it was a lovely name, refreshingly different these days.

mumumof2 · 29/10/2019 13:05

I like Iris or Mirren. I’m in Scotland too. Think Mirren would be well received.

merryhouse · 29/10/2019 13:10

Is Mirren a traditional name in Scotland? - because everywhere I've ever lived people will immediately think of Helen Mirren and assume that's why she has the name.

What about Marren? apparently it's a form of Marina used in Denmark etc.

Iris is old enough to be okay now (anyone remember when Emily was a really old-fashioned name?) but I think Heather and Hazel are more in my age-bracket (I'm 50).

RockinHippy · 29/10/2019 13:11

I like Iris as a name too, but it's become far too common for my liking

mumumof2 · 29/10/2019 13:13

Similar to Mirren - Marin or Maren

Drogosnextwife · 29/10/2019 13:13

I like Mirren. We are in Scotland and I have boys, they have pretty Scottish names too. If I had a girl I always said Mirren would be in the top 3 for her name.

welshy2240 · 29/10/2019 13:15

Love Hazel

Drogosnextwife · 29/10/2019 13:15

I would never have thought of Helen Mirren.
Also like Heather. Don't really like Iris.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 29/10/2019 13:37

Heather and or Iris. If you’re bothered about popularity I’d go with Heather. Iris are everywhere.
Don’t like Hazel. No reason
Mirren is awful. It sounds like Midden.

Clangus00 · 29/10/2019 13:42

Make it Murrin/Murren.

Bowerbird5 · 29/10/2019 13:53

Had an aunt Hazel who was lovely. Know a child called Heather and it was my DD MIL name. I think it is pretty. Haven't heard of Mirren. Friends grandchild is Eilise which i think is pretty. Not that keen on Iris just knew one so it isn't very common.
Why don't you wait until she arrives and see which one suits her more.
