Always my favourite baby name lists.

The names I love but are too out there (even for me who's child has an unranked name) to use:

Boys:
Nemo
Zeus
Rubeus
Sherlock
Tokyo
Woody

Girls:
Bambi
Dolly
Birdie
Baby
Queenie
Pepper

Major guilty pleasure names BlushBlush my DP barely let me finish the sentence when suggesting these ones although I wouldn't have been brave enough to use them anyway 😂

Kennedy and Anastasia.

I loved Ludo and Otto for a boy and Delphine for a girl. Husband didn't like any of them.

I wanted to call DD2 Gigi or Lulu, but someone pointed out that as DD1 is Mimi, they’d sound like strippers or poodles, so I chickened our and called her Sophie. I kind of regret it as every second girl is called Sophie now.

RickOShay · 26/10/2019 10:08

I love both of those @justilou1

justilou1 · 26/10/2019 10:51

I love all of yours.... unfortunately DH is rather more pedestrian, so I won with Mimi to begin with. (She was named after my grandmother...)

Sheeparelooseagain · 26/10/2019 12:24

Liesl

BelfastmummyL · 26/10/2019 15:32

I love these 2 also.

Martha
Mabel
Gabriel
Ivy
Violet

Cookit · 26/10/2019 19:55

Liesl

Oh this has always been one of my favourite names. I briefly considered whether anglicising it to Liesel was any more workable but discounted.

Boys I like Hunter which I would never use.

My daughter looks like a Posy, also would never use IRL.

Isis. Now unusable!

Musmerian · 26/10/2019 20:30

@FrownPrincess - Tristan and Dolores both mean sorrow and are used. Not forgetting Tess’s baby Sorrow!

FrownPrincess · 26/10/2019 23:32

@Musmerian - yes, they are names I would also never contemplate!
I’d forgotten about Tess’s baby Confused

Treaclepie19 · 27/10/2019 17:35

Axel and Persephone

Treaclepie19 · 27/10/2019 17:36

Ohh and Fox.

Treaclepie19 · 27/10/2019 17:37

Last one, I also love Atlas.

We have a Hero. She’s amazing 😍 We accidentally found out we were having a girl after DS. I have a very traumatic, complicated relationship with my brother and I cried when I found out - it felt like history would repeat itself.

DH and I went through a ton of names - DS’s name is already very unusual so it was kind of a given DD would go the same way.

I loved things like Luna, Lux, River, Phoenix, Juno but remembered Hero from being an Ancient Greece nerd when I was a kid. When she was born we didn’t know if we dared - was it too poncey, would she hate us for it. It took about two weeks of going back and forth between that and our second choice. In the end we decided life was too short to care what other people thought!

She’s four now and suits it down to the ground. She’s a force of nature personality wise - caring and nurturing to her baby sister but with a scrappy spirit - she’s the kind of personality that would step in to defend her baby sister OR older brother. We couldn’t have given her a better name ❤️ Everyone who meets her loves it and we regularly get parents at pre school and now school pulling us aside and saying “So THAT’S Hero! She’s real! We weren’t sure when DS/DD came home talking about her!” Grin

PurBal · 28/10/2019 07:54

Evelyn for a boy

Krisskrosskiss · 28/10/2019 21:37

Hero is gorgeous!

My husbands name is Lysander and so I love that one too.

Psyche is beautiful too it's a shame it has such scope for bullying... and Isis! Which my phone tried to auto correct to ISIS... a lifetime of problems!

I also love Eurydice... beautiful story but i didnt dare use it
