So tonight I got husband to write down 10 boys names he liked after chucking a baby book at him. What do you think of these?
Adam
Asher
Eli
Leo
Paddy (Patrick)
Rufus
Zachary
And he stopped there!

You did a good job getting 7 names out of him! I struggled to get 3.
Favourites are Asher and Rufus

bridgetreilly · 15/10/2019 14:24

I think they're all fine, but none of them really stand out for me. Maybe Adam.

MrsNoMopp · 15/10/2019 16:06

Which ones do you like, OP?

FreshHorizons · 15/10/2019 17:11

Adam

diddlediddle · 15/10/2019 17:42

Adam
Patrick
Zachary

Shadow1234 · 15/10/2019 19:18

Eli and Zachary

Apolloanddaphne · 15/10/2019 19:20

I don't like Patrick, Rufus or Leo but I like all the rest. I especially like Asher as it is a family name of ours.

girlandboy · 15/10/2019 19:26

Adam is not a boring name. It means "man of the earth"

And it's my son's name so I'm slightly biased Grin

mogtheexcellent · 15/10/2019 19:31

I like them all apart from Asher.

You are lucky with his choices. My DH chose Zebedee and Kimberly as his favourite names. We have a 5 syllable surname Hmm

MikeUniformMike · 15/10/2019 19:55

Asher makes me think of Brimfull of Asha, which gives me an earworm.
I like Kim and Zebedee. Kimberley makes me think of the bogroll company. Is your surname Clark?

Tillygetsit · 15/10/2019 23:31

Well I feel properly scolded! I was just surprised he came up with any so wanted to share
To the pp who says Asher is only for Jane not true...it's biblical and dh chose it so he could sing Brimful of Asha 🙄
Not sure about Adam. I keep changing my mind. Leo is ok but there are 2 at dd2's nursery which puts me off. Paddy. Hmm. Dont know. Rufus and Eli are not really my thing.
I like Zachary quite a lot so from his list, that's my favourite.
I'm hankering after Daniel but dh says there were 5 million in his class (doubtful) and it's boring. I do like biblical names, just for the sound of them as opposed to being religious and my 8 year old ds is Joseph.
I can't use Matthew, Benjamin, Rueben, Samuel,Michael or Saul and would rather it wasnt another J name. Any ideas please?

Elias rather than Eli? Elias is great. (You could go Elijah, though I don't like it much.)

Shadow1234 · 16/10/2019 04:55

What about Elliott?

Apolloanddaphne · 16/10/2019 05:04

If you like biblical names what about:
Aaron
Jacob
Isaac
I know on MN the following names are considered old fashioned but I also like Peter, Paul and Mark and think they are all due for a come back.

CravingCheese · 16/10/2019 08:44

Biblical names, no J:
David
Elijah
Moses
Thomas
Aaron
Caleb
Moses
Abraham
Tobias
Gabriel
Raphael
Silas
Isaac
Levi
Micah
Philip
Luke
Nathaniel
Timon
Timothy

BertrandRussell · 16/10/2019 08:46

I have a Patrick. Best name ever.

Zachary second best. Might he like Isaac?

MissHenty · 16/10/2019 08:50

I LOVE Daniel @Tillygetsit

Yes it was so popular when we were growing up but tell your DH it’s above to leave the UK top 40 names. There’s zero chance of a Daniel these days being in a class with 5 million others! Infact there’s no Daniels at my sons school. It’s a lovely classic name. Maybe when your husband appreciates how much less used it is these days he might come round

I love Eli/Ellis and Jacob. I also love Noah but maybe that’s too popular for you

xTinkerbell · 16/10/2019 20:11

I like Eli, that's one of our boys names.
