Thoughts on these four boys names?

Peter James

Morris James

Gruffydd James

Gregory James

(Had another thread about the positives and negatives of a Welsh name so just wanting to hear which of the four you like best)

I think Peter is probably the 'safe' option!

Morris puts me in mind of an old man in a tweed jacket and a moustache, I love Gregory and gruffydd though, Peter a bit dull.

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 06/10/2019 08:46

James is a great middle name for boys. Grin

LetItGoHome · 06/10/2019 08:47

Gregory is my favourite by far 💙

sheshootssheimplores · 06/10/2019 08:47

Gregory James - love it!!

MrsBertBibby · 06/10/2019 08:47

Gruffydd or Gregory.

I met a French Gregory when I was 16 who was so beautiful I thought I would die. I don't suppose you'd say Gregory French style though. swoons

floravus · 06/10/2019 08:49

Days he probably is quite likely to wear a lot of Tweed in his lifetime Grin

I love Gregory but it's DH's least favourite (in fact he's not very keen at all. But I'm hoping I can be persuasive!)

Peter is nice, know several Gruffydds (Welsh connections), all known as Gruff (Griff). Dislike Morris, agree with pp.

IncrediblySadToo · 06/10/2019 08:50

I think it looks like you’re planning on giving your Grandad a new name.

If I had to choose one it would be the Welsh one, as for me, it’s not so ‘dated’, but it might well be in Wales?!

I’d have to google how to say it first though!

Greg is probably the least dated of the English makes.

OpiesOldLady · 06/10/2019 08:50

I like Morris, but i would want to spell it the Welsh way - Morys.

Are you decided on those four now because I've got a ton of Welsh boys names i never got to use...

custardbear · 06/10/2019 08:51

Morris is awful -
Sorry. Gregory is the best combination with James and James is the nicest out of all
of them

BethanyGilbert · 06/10/2019 08:52

James is a horrible ugly name. Greg James is a famous radio one DJ.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 06/10/2019 08:52

Sorry OP, but I agree with others that Morris isn't great. Gregory is the best of the four. How about Rhys?

TerribleCustomerCervix · 06/10/2019 08:55

Gruffydd is fabulous. And Gruff as a nickname is very cool, without sounding try hard. Works really well for a little boy and a grown up equally.

Morris is dreadful.

floravus · 06/10/2019 09:00

I thought Morris was going to be a bit Marmite Grin I hear you!

James is an important name to us so that is set for the middle name, but no, we aren't completely set on one of these four! I've just read endless lists and not seen many other names that jump out. Happy to hear suggestions!

I don’t like any of them - particularly dislike Gregory and Gruffyd and think Peter is one of the most boring names going. Morris reminds me of that funny little man who used to be on Corrie (or maybe still is - haven’t watched it for years!) but I do like James.

Debbiecurtbag · 06/10/2019 09:29

I was only thinking the other day that Peter is due a resurgence. I like it.

A few years ago I would have said I hated Morris... But then my friend had a little boy and named him Maurice (pronounced like Morris) and now I love it! They call him Mau (Mo)... I only like it spelt like my friends boy though. Although now I've seen the Welsh spelling I like that also!

CakeRattleandRoll · 06/10/2019 10:29

Peter or Gruffydd are great.

Grufallosfriends · 06/10/2019 10:34

I like Gregory

Yes, James seems to be the default middle name these days, the male version of Rose.

Naomimi · 06/10/2019 10:49

Gruffydd (love Griff!) or Peter

FizzyGreenWater · 06/10/2019 12:57

Malcolm sounds like it would fit your 'feel'.

Malcolm James.

Mal is a greast short form.

LarkDescending · 06/10/2019 13:19

I like Peter and Gregory (also Gregor).

Other thoughts: Edmund, Philip, Wyn?

DramaAlpaca · 06/10/2019 13:21

Peter James is the only one I like.
