Peter James

Morris James

Gruffydd James

Gregory James

(Had another thread about the positives and negatives of a Welsh name so just wanting to hear which of the four you like best)

I think Peter is probably the 'safe' option!

Love them all except Morris, and that's not terrible.

Peter is a fab name, might be worried about Pete as a shortening as its not as nice (to me).

Gruff or Greg are great shortenings though, so that would steer me towards one of those two.

KUGA · 06/10/2019 13:46

Gregory James

DaveTheGhost · 06/10/2019 13:48

I really like Morris

Dollyjh · 06/10/2019 13:49

Peter James is my partners name and our son is James.
I think Peter James is a lovely combo!

MikeUniformMike · 06/10/2019 13:52

Peter James is my favourite.
Morris is kinda cute, Gruffydd - spelling etc., I had to think twice and I am Welsh. Not met a nice Gregory so that's my least favourite

hungryhippie · 06/10/2019 13:54

Peter James is my favourite from your list.

SluggishSnail · 06/10/2019 13:58

Gregor is a nice variation if your DH doesn't like Gregory. It goes really well with James IMO

WinterRose92 · 06/10/2019 13:59

I like Peter and Gregory, I think they’re lovely.

NoSauce · 06/10/2019 14:58

Peter is nice.

georgialondon · 06/10/2019 15:12

I think James is just so much better than the options for the first name. James is a great name.

Rachelover60 · 06/10/2019 15:13

Gregory, James and Peter all OK. Not Morris (which should be 'Maurice' for a first name).

IckleBear · 06/10/2019 16:21

Like Gregory James

Pcosmama · 06/10/2019 19:29

I seem to be the only one who prefers Morris (agree with pp about Morys spelling) to Gregory. I know it's your favourite name and if you love it that's all that matters but I just can't get away with the name Gregory! Perhaps it's because I had a god awful flat mate of that name at uni though...

Also Greg James is a radio presenter islf that affects your decision?

I like Welsh names, I like Gruffydd.

Also Rhys, Ioan, Owain, Rhodri, Ivor, Bryn, Celyn, Deian, Iolo, Madox.

notso · 06/10/2019 19:32

Gruffydd James or Gregory James although I prefer Gregor to Gregory.

Peter and Morris are not my cup of tea.

17caterpillars1mouse · 06/10/2019 19:41

I love Gregory especially nn Rory

floravus · 06/10/2019 19:42

Thank you for all the opinions! I don't think DH would have his arm twisted with Gregory anyway sadly (and we both really dislike Gregor!) so I think Gruffydd is my more realistic favourite.

I do like Morris (we have a friend with a foreign variation of the name and we're really fond of him so maybe that taints our view!) but I don't know if I'm brave enough to go with a more Marmite name (probably not).

Gregory James is the best name by far

golddustwomen · 06/10/2019 19:50

God I bloody love Morris !!

MikeUniformMike · 06/10/2019 20:11

I like Morris too. I know one and it suits him. I also know a really nice Maurice.

123Dancewithme · 06/10/2019 20:38

I actually think Morris is so cute for a little boy.

Grufallosfriends · 06/10/2019 20:57

Is Morris another spelling for Maurice?

RainbowMum11 · 06/10/2019 21:01

I love Gregory - was one of my choices if I had had a boy.

aibutohavethisusername · 06/10/2019 21:14

Gregory

TeddyToaster · 07/10/2019 20:15

@floravus@17caterpillars1mouse The Gregory / Rory option is by far the best. Do you like in Wales? I'd be wary of using a Welsh name that was difficult to spell outside of Wales.. Take it from someone with an unusual name!! X

TeddyToaster · 07/10/2019 20:16

Do you live in Wales? *

Jeez, can't type!
