So after added Georgina with the nickname Georgie onto a thread yesterday I’ve decided I actually really like the name. Thoughts please? Grin

Also, my daughter is Liliana, so Georgiana is out of the question. But it’s a lovely name

MissHenty · 25/09/2019 20:53

Georgina is not frumpy 🤣
Lovely name

midsomermurderess · 25/09/2019 20:56

Dull, and rather stuffy.

Geneva1995 · 25/09/2019 20:57

I'm a Georgina (not name changing as I don't post anything on here I'd be bothered by people reading who know me!) nn Georgie. I love my name! I'm not frumpy or stuffy Grin
At least I don't think so....!!!!

NumberblockNo1 · 25/09/2019 21:08

I prefer Georgina - Georgia is along with all other place names and horrible imo!

BoomZahramay · 25/09/2019 21:09

Yes, imho, it's frumpy. I like traditional names generally, but I don't love the sounds in George or Georgina. Those soft Gs are a bit of a mouthful, like chewing cotton wool.

In fact, that's probably why I picture Georginas in frumpy knitted cardigans from Edinburgh Woollen Mill... Grin

I prefer Georgina to Georgiana, each to their own.

Geneva1995 · 25/09/2019 21:19

@BoomZahramay haha love it! Hopefully my baby will suit her knitted cardis Wink

I think it’s a lovely name. I wouldn’t abbreviate it though.

VenusClapTrap · 25/09/2019 22:07

Hate it. Georgie Porgie. It always makes me think of fat little boys eating sausages.

SleeplessWB · 25/09/2019 22:13

My niece is Georgina and she really doesn't like it. I have to say I agree with her.

tabbiemoo · 25/09/2019 22:21

Prefer Georgiana to Georgina. Georgie cute nn though.

LazyLizzy · 25/09/2019 22:22

Love Georgina/Georgie, hate Georgia.

Tillygetsit · 25/09/2019 23:37

Georgina is lovely. Georgiana sound frilly and spoilt to me. I imagine a grumpy little girl with ringlets stamping her foot!

YourWinter · 25/09/2019 23:43

One of my favourite names, and I love all its usual diminutives.

YourWinter · 25/09/2019 23:44

I mean Georgina, NOT Georgiana!

Shadow1234 · 26/09/2019 00:00

My daughters friend is a Georgina, but always known as Georgie - I love it.

123Dancewithme · 26/09/2019 00:46

Lovely. Much nicer than Georgia.

MondeoFan · 26/09/2019 05:57

I like it a lot plus all the nn George, Georgie etc

Astronica · 26/09/2019 06:04

I like it, and love Georgie.

AdoreTheBeach · 26/09/2019 07:03

My older daughter has two friends named Georgina. Both very lovely girls so when you asked, gave me positive outlook on the name. One is Georgie and the other uses her full name.

My daughter didn’t meet either until uni, one from Surrey and one from Devon - so name in that age group is not too common.

NoSauce · 26/09/2019 07:13

I’m not keen, I don’t like Georgia or Georgie either.

BikeRunSki · 26/09/2019 07:14

I have never liked it, largely due to having a very elderly, very strict, rather severe aunt by this name. DD has a delightful, funny, sassy 8 year old friend called Georgina, who is changing my life-long negative associations with the name.
