What do you think of the name Marina?
Any other suggestions for nautical/seaside inspired names?
Many thanks.

Love it, I'm a fan of girl names starting with M. Could nn it to Mari or Mina

NoSauce · 03/09/2019 17:02

I do quite like it.

IncrediblySadToo · 03/09/2019 17:02

‘It’s a place to put a boat’ was my instant reaction, so I guess hitting your brief, but why you’d want your child to have a nautical/beach inspired name is a bit baffling. It’ll be her name for her whole life, I can’t imagine choosing it to fit a ‘theme’.

MikeUniformMike · 03/09/2019 17:03

I like it

IfNot · 03/09/2019 17:03

Love. Was my girls name (never had a girl)

GeoffreyAndBungle · 03/09/2019 17:04

Lovely name!

Also like Nerissa (means from the sea), Pearl and Coralie.

MmmBlowholes · 03/09/2019 17:04

Mirena coil 😂

PhilipJennings · 03/09/2019 17:08

Love it. I know (and am very fond of) two Marinas, both very glamorous and intelligent women, so I associate it with beautiful people now Grin and also Russians, because I read a lot of books where it's a common Russian name.

daisypond · 03/09/2019 17:26

I really like it. I know a few adult ones - Spanish, Greek and Russian.

sue51 · 03/09/2019 17:30

Beautiful name. I can't think of many nautical names except Ariel and Pearl.

Peachbubble · 03/09/2019 18:01

I like it.

Morado · 03/09/2019 18:06

Meh

AverageMummy · 03/09/2019 18:09

Isn’t it contraception?

PinkBuffalo · 03/09/2019 18:12

I live by a marina and thought boats the same as a pp! Sorry op!
I absolutely LOVE Nerissa though. A family member has this name and it's beautiful!

MrsBudd · 03/09/2019 18:13

Reminds me of Mirena coil. Sorry OP.

Bananaboy9 · 03/09/2019 18:14

Absolutely love it

MrsBudd · 03/09/2019 18:14

Coral is nice?

daveyfish · 03/09/2019 18:17

I LOVE Marina, a really beautiful name. I have come across a handful in Scotland, in the Highlands and Islands. Unusual and ageless.

FatherFintanFay · 03/09/2019 18:32

I always hear it in my head being spoken in a whiny old man voice, like in Last of the Summer Wine - "Oh, Mariiina!" But then, I am old.

Other possible nautical themed names:
Nina (one of Christopher Columbus' ships was nicknamed that)
Coral
Holly (there's a plant called sea holly - OK, I'm struggling a bit here, it's a tougher brief than I thought it was going to be)

bodgersmash · 03/09/2019 18:33

It's a pretty name but my first thought is the coil (I thought this was a thread about contraception).

cornstarch · 03/09/2019 18:34

Yes

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 03/09/2019 18:36

Don't like it I'm afraid. How about Michelle-shell, get it??!!?! 😂😂😂😂😂

Supergrassyknoll · 03/09/2019 18:38

Like it, I like Marina, Marion too

DandyLyon · 03/09/2019 18:45

I think it's lovely. Could also throw Mara in to the mix

ImPermanentlyConfused · 03/09/2019 18:47

Love it. One of my favourite names
