If I have a Hazel already, can I name my new baby Heather or are they too similar?

I think they sound cute together!

Whoops75 · 02/09/2019 14:53

Not similar-hazel is lovely heather is not.

HollyBen · 02/09/2019 14:55

I know sisters called Heather and Hazel. I like both and think they are fine for siblings

Slaymill · 02/09/2019 14:58

My friend was Hilary her sisters were Helen, Hazel and Heather.

violetteskies · 02/09/2019 15:12

I really like them names and the combination!

JuneSpoon · 02/09/2019 15:18

I knew a family who had these two names and a Holly too

DramaAlpaca · 02/09/2019 16:15

I like them together, they aren't too similar.

An alternative to Heather could be Erica/Erika, which is the Latin name for the heather plant.

Hazel and Erika is lovely.

Thanks. I’m not really into having names that match and was worried it would be too twee.

LenoVintura · 02/09/2019 16:38

No. Way too twee.

LenoVintura · 02/09/2019 16:39

What about Rowan?

Peachbubble · 02/09/2019 16:41

A bit twee yes. Hazel is having a revival, whereas Heather's still waiting! I like the pp suggestion of Rowan.

BeanBag7 · 02/09/2019 16:43

I dont think they're too similar and they're both nice, I really love Hazel

Acornacorn · 02/09/2019 17:17

I love Rowan but my husband is Owen, and Rowan and Owen would definitely be too twee and confusing 😂

Grin Owen and Rowan - no Grin

Derbee · 02/09/2019 21:48

In my experience, it’s very annoying for post as they get older! Will constantly be opening each other’s private mail. I wouldn’t do 2 same initials, especially for the same gender.

helpmum2003 · 02/09/2019 21:55

I think it's a bit twee and will be annoying for post. I love Hazel.

I really love Hazel. Not sure about putting it with Heather though. @helpmum2003 has some good suggestions.

AverageMummy · 02/09/2019 23:13

I think you’re removing some of the older girls identity with both nature & initial. Weirdly whether I’d do it probably depends on the age gap - 5+ years between them it will matter a lot less

Astronica · 03/09/2019 05:23

It's fine.

mamasiz · 03/09/2019 05:24

Outing but my mum is Hazel and I’m Holly 😊

helpmum2003 · 03/09/2019 08:28

Posy

Chewbecca · 03/09/2019 08:34

Nice. I always think you shouldn't place too much importance on a name 'working with' sibling name as it is only noticed when they're young anyway, most of their lives they will just be Heather, not Heather and Hazel. If that makes any sense.

NoSauce · 03/09/2019 21:58

Heather is very dated and a bit dull.

Derbee · 03/09/2019 22:08

I think you’ll only need one to open a private letter from a doctor or someone once, and you’ll regret the same initial. It happened to my DP all the time as a teenager with his brother, and he is very adamant he’d never do that to our children

Derbee · 03/09/2019 22:09

Although Heather is gorgeous
