Between these 2 names now. Which one and why?

Penelope - I love Nelly & Penny
Athena is ok but not really to my taste

Poppins2016 · 30/08/2019 11:47

Athena. It's elegant and sounds lovely. I might actually have to add it to my girls list if I have a second!

Poppins2016 · 30/08/2019 11:50

Should have said, Penelope reminds me of 'Penelope Pitstop' and I'm not a fan of Penny or Nelly, unlike the PP...

Just goes to show, it's all very subjective! I think you need to go with your gut, OP. I waited to see what my DS suited when he was born (we narrowed it down to 3 boys and 3 girls names beforehand).

Penelope. What a very fine name it is.

99bb · 30/08/2019 12:13

Penelope

diddlediddle · 30/08/2019 12:18

I prefer Athena

Peachbubble · 30/08/2019 12:44

Athena, as I don't like Penny as a nn for Penelope.

MrsGilly1 · 30/08/2019 13:14

Penelope x

Hellokitty134 · 30/08/2019 14:20

Athena!

mistermagpie · 30/08/2019 15:07

Penelope is the more 'normal' choice I would say. I can't imagine meeting 'Athena from accounts' or whatever. My niece is called Penelope so be aware that nobody will call her that and she'll probably just end up Penny (which is lovely!).

vikktorya · 30/08/2019 15:20

I’m still very unsure !

Penelope, but nickname Penny which is much nicer!

flapjackfairy · 30/08/2019 15:23

I hate the name Penelope. Sorry !

FantasticPhyllis · 30/08/2019 15:24

Athena

I find Penelope so frumpy

pontiouspilates · 30/08/2019 15:29

Athena is pretty but in my part of London she would get called 'Afeena' which gives me the same feels as nails down a blackboard.

whattodowith · 30/08/2019 15:48

I like both but would probably pluck for Penelope.

Wiltshirelass2019 · 30/08/2019 15:50

Athena is on my baby list but it’s quite a grand name (a bit like naming your baby Thor) so I don't we’ll go with it. It’s pretty though but it all depends on your accent 😂 Penelope is nice

TempsPerdu · 30/08/2019 16:12

I much prefer Athena - lovely, strong, elegant name. Not a fan of Penelope at all

JanewaysBun · 30/08/2019 16:16

Both on my list. Love athena!

Twillow · 30/08/2019 16:23

Athena. Classic, elegant, suits baby and adult.

Shadow1234 · 30/08/2019 16:41

Athena

CakeRattleandRoll · 30/08/2019 16:56

Penelope. Love nn Penny.

Frith2013 · 30/08/2019 16:57

Athena. Because Penelope is awful.

AriadneCrete · 30/08/2019 17:28

Athena. I love the wisdom and strong connection and I think it's a nicer name. And Penelope is becoming too popular (where I live).

bridgetreilly · 30/08/2019 17:43

Penelope.
