Maurice, is it usable? Dated? Middle name potential or no...?

Pronounced Morris or Mo-reece?

Colourfulest · 29/08/2019 17:10

My friend has a 2 year old Maurice and I love it! They pronounce it like Morris though and call him Mau for short (only sometimes and they pronounce it like Moe)

Colourfulest · 29/08/2019 17:10

I like it pronounced either way. I don't like Morris though to look at.

fantasmasgoria1 · 29/08/2019 17:11

I knew a Maurice pronounced Morris, if it were me I would just use Morris. Maurice is really old fashioned especially if pronounced mor eece

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 29/08/2019 17:12

As in the space cowboy (mo-reeeeese, woop woooooo)?

Answerthequestion · 29/08/2019 17:13

Please don’t, it’s awful

Mackerz · 29/08/2019 17:15

I like it spelt Maurice but pronounced Morris. I think Mor - Reece is the US pronunciation.

Moe is a cute nickname too.

Porky54 · 29/08/2019 17:15

I love it! Great name

SallyWD · 29/08/2019 17:16

I love it. I know a very cool 25 year old Maurice.

Jessbow · 29/08/2019 17:20

Maurice is usually pronounced Morris, isnt it?

I know a lady called Maureece., pronounced More- eece

user27495824 · 29/08/2019 17:37

I absolutely adore it, always have. I prefer the look of Morris personally. I don't like the American pronunciation and I'd worry you would get that with Maurice.

RabbitPied · 29/08/2019 17:37

It's terrible.

LatteLove · 29/08/2019 17:41

Good god it’s awful. Very old man name

LittleSweet · 29/08/2019 18:12

Makes me think of Joey's imaginary friend Maurice the space cowboy.Grin
Mauricio?

gwilt · 29/08/2019 18:27

It was my granddad's name. He died in 1953. My mum didn't feel the need to pass it on to her sons Grin

Lavenderblues · 29/08/2019 18:31

I really like it!

user1493494961 · 29/08/2019 19:43

Very old man and not in a good way. Pretty awful.

Whathappenedtothelego · 29/08/2019 19:50

I quite like it, but not so keen on it written down.
Better than Boris or Horace.

I know a little baby Moritz - pronounced "more it's". He's gorgeous, so I love the name now.

MrsBungle · 29/08/2019 19:51

Horrific

Shockers · 29/08/2019 19:52

I like it.

boredboredboredboredbored · 29/08/2019 19:55

I had an Uncle Morris. Lazy work shy git. Terrible name!

Pinkkahori · 29/08/2019 19:57

Popular in Ireland years ago - pronounced Morris with Moss or Mossie as a nickname.

ALoadOfTwaddle · 29/08/2019 19:57

I don't like it, personally.

Frith2013 · 29/08/2019 19:58

It seems dated to me.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 29/08/2019 19:58

Worse name ever.
