Hi!

Is Sasha a boy's name or girl's name for you?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Boys name. Sacha

AravisTarkheena · 29/08/2019 14:36

Both but personally I prefer it on a boy.

Ohyesiam · 29/08/2019 14:36

Both, it’s a diminutive of Alexander/Alexandra.

EdithWeston · 29/08/2019 14:37

Boys name, basically

Like Charlie. Can be used on a girl, but the norm would be a boy.

Especially when you are in a diverse area with a largish Eastern European community.

daisypond · 29/08/2019 14:37

I know both but I see it as a girl’s name predominantly. Otherwise it’s a Russian short form of Alexander.

CassianAndor · 29/08/2019 14:38

both, prefer it as a boy's. Diminutive of Alexander in Russia.

MargoLovebutter · 29/08/2019 14:41

Lovely name - could be male or female.

MarciaMarciaMarcia · 29/08/2019 14:43

Both, but I prefer it for a girl.

User147897643556 · 29/08/2019 14:44

I initially thought girl.

daisypond · 29/08/2019 14:52

Quite a common Indian name for girls, and because it works well in European countries too it’s a good name for those of mixed heritage.

Colourfulest · 29/08/2019 15:03

Either

enir2 · 29/08/2019 15:09

Good! Thanks for your inputs.
I know it's originally Sacha for a boy.
But I really prefer it as Sasha for a girl.

Girl for me

BigusBumus · 29/08/2019 15:16

Sasha is a girl. Sacha is a boy. To me anyway.... Always loved the name for both sexes.

Also love Saskia for a girl.

katesalwayslate · 29/08/2019 15:33

Both. In the UK I’ve seen it mostly on girls but still suits boys.

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 29/08/2019 16:10

Lovely name.
(As, for that matter, is Tasha as a standalone as well as obviously a Natasha diminutive)

Have known boys with the Sacha and Sasha spellings: nice either way, but think I prefer the second for a girl.

CassianAndor · 29/08/2019 16:12

In Russia it's always been Sasha for a boy, hasn't it? And Misha for Mikhail?

MargotsFlounceyBlouse · 29/08/2019 16:14

It's a girl's name to me.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 29/08/2019 16:42

Girl

SoftBlocks · 29/08/2019 16:43

Boys. Sacha.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 29/08/2019 16:44

I went to school with a female Sasha. Seems to suit a boy too!

whattodowith · 29/08/2019 16:57

Sacha, boys name.

meditrina · 29/08/2019 17:02

In Russian the sh/ch/sch cluster of consonants in the middle is represented by a single letter that had no direct counterpart in the British 26-letter alphabet. So any of these spellings can be used in a transliteration, irrespective of which sex the person.

But if I heard the name, I'd definitely expect a bloke.

Roselilly36 · 29/08/2019 17:04

Boys name.

Slinkyreptile · 29/08/2019 17:05

There is a female character in the walking dead called Sasha. Only one I’ve ever heard of x
