Katniss is a brilliant name for a kitten.

Miranda dates back to the 1600s.... I think surely any name is ‘made up’ if you go back far enough ?!?!

That's what I meant. Miranda was invented by Shakespeare - admittedly a much better writer than whoever wrote the Hunger Games ;)

I always thought Katniss was awful in the book!

However, there are some nice names- Primrose, Effie, Ru.. and Annie in the later books!

Maybe Catherine/Katie with the pet name Katniss at home? I don’t think Katniss would go down well and I say this as a mother of an Effie!

It's cute, but I don't think it would be a good choice for an actual baby name. Agree with naming her Katherine (or indeed Kathleen, Katya, Katrina, etc) and calling her Kat for short with Katniss as a nickname. That way she could choose whether she wants to continue going by Katniss or just use Kat, and when she grows up she'd have a full name to go by that wouldn't lend itself to constant cat piss comments.
