I know Sophie is a longtime popular name, but just how many Sophie's do you know as babies/toddlers?
I want a name which won't lead to any pronunciation or spelling errors, but also I don't want it too common in school...

Don't pick Sophie then!

Ugly name.

Grufallosfriends · 22/08/2019 18:24

I know lots of Sophies aged 15 and below, so yes, it's pretty common.

emmyblake · 22/08/2019 18:28

It is a popular name but it’s timeless, soft, pretty and simple.
I know no baby / toddler Sophies, but it could be my area (Birmingham).

Sophronia · 22/08/2019 18:28

I know two under 5s named Sophie.

DramaAlpaca · 22/08/2019 18:30

I know a handful in their teens & 20s but no babies or toddlers.

BrunettesDoItBetter · 22/08/2019 18:31

One 9 yr old.Prefer Sophia

hereforasillygoosetime · 22/08/2019 18:32

This is the name we have chosen for our soon to arrive dd. Don't know any little Sophie's in our area. I have two DDs already with unusual names, having a 'not
Common' name is overrated ime

Esto · 22/08/2019 18:34

It's pretty enough, as is Sophia/Sofia, but I know absolutely loads of them. LOADS. It's inoffensive but just so incredibly popular that it's not for me.

fromthefloorboardsup · 22/08/2019 18:34

I know two toddlers called Sophie

pinkcardi · 22/08/2019 18:34

I know one 4yr old Sophia but no Sophie.

Lovely name

Frith2013 · 22/08/2019 18:34

It’s so dull.

Hornet7067 · 22/08/2019 18:35

I have a 4 year old niece called Sophie and I seem to remember it was quite popular at that the time she was born but haven’t heard anyone calling their baby that for a few years.

I do think it’s a timeless pretty name that although popular, it isn’t over common.

Hornet7067 · 22/08/2019 18:35

What about Emily, nice name, easy to spell not over common

user1493494961 · 22/08/2019 18:36

A bit bland but not ugly, I also prefer Sophia..

sue51 · 22/08/2019 18:37

Sophie has gone in and out of fashion but it always has been a lovely name.

Jaffacakebeast · 22/08/2019 18:37

Very common in my area

killerkoala · 22/08/2019 18:37

My 26 year old friend is called Sophie, so is my cousins 3 year old dd. I think it's a timeless name but I do actually prefer Sophia, especially as where I live up north a lot of people pronounce it soph-eh.

HisBetterHalf · 22/08/2019 18:40

None around her but it is a gorgeous name

Louisasasa · 22/08/2019 18:40

Dull as paint.
It’s in the boring group along with names like Emily, Lucy and Amy

Namechange8471 · 22/08/2019 18:41

I think sophie is rather dated now, I'd avoid it.

JazzyJelly · 22/08/2019 18:51

I think it's a classic, very pretty.

drivingmeupthebend · 22/08/2019 18:53

I know a 5 year old Sophie. And a 35 year old Sophie, and a 40 year old Sophie.
I know a 5 year old Sophia and a 3 year old Sofia.

Lemoneeza · 22/08/2019 18:54

it's fairly common but pretty.

Chickenwing · 22/08/2019 18:55

It's a very pretty name :)

Pinkblueberry · 22/08/2019 18:57

but also I don't want it too common in school...

I don’t know why that’s a deal breaker - if you like a name why does it matter if others like it and use it too?
I work in a school and had DS last year - I haven’t come across any Sophies.
