Hazel or Iris?

I'm 24 weeks pregnant and think this one is a girl (have two boys already). We have finally settled, I think, on Hazel or Iris for a name - which do you prefer? Both go equally with the surname.

If you hate both there's not much point replying unless you've got a brilliant alternative suggestion, we've been through every name out there it feels like!

Hazel 100%

I know quite a few Irises lately. Hazel conjures up lovely autumnal images to me.

TheWildAndTheCurious · 16/08/2019 10:49

I love both! How about Hazel Iris? Or Iris Hazel? I'm no help sorry!

funmummy48 · 16/08/2019 10:51

Hazel as a first name & Iris as a middle name. They're lovely names.

NoSauce · 16/08/2019 10:51

I like both which isn’t helpful. Probably Iris at a push. What are you boys called? Obviously you don’t have to say, it might help people to make a decision Smile

Mybobowler · 16/08/2019 10:53

Both of these were on our shortlist - beautiful names. Since I slightly regret not using it for our daughter, I vote Hazel

mistermagpie · 16/08/2019 10:53

Middle name will be Catherine either way - it's a family thing. Our boys names would probably be a bit outing but are both very typical Scottish names - nothing to do with flowers or nature! DS2 would 100% have been Hazel if he was a girl but DH has veered away from that and now likes Iris better.

Iris Catherine Hazel flows nicely!

NoSauce · 16/08/2019 11:04

I would say Hazel then OP. Great name.

PennyGold · 16/08/2019 11:04

Hazel!

NannyR · 16/08/2019 11:05

Hazel - beautiful name!

Chitarra · 16/08/2019 11:06

Iris - beautiful

Frith2013 · 16/08/2019 11:21

Iris.

BrunettesDoItBetter · 16/08/2019 11:27

Iris

Bloodybanana · 16/08/2019 11:30

I love both but I think would choose Hazel

PickledLilli · 16/08/2019 11:33

Hazel is beautiful. I'm not a fan of Iris.

starkid · 16/08/2019 11:51

Hazel

RedCowboyBoots · 16/08/2019 12:00

Hazel. I associate iris with the eye part more than the flower/colour, so to me it's like naming your kid cornea.

RedCowboyBoots · 16/08/2019 12:11

Also , the iris gives the eye its colour, so naming your kid Hazel Iris would basically be like naming them Ginger Eyelashes.

BigusBumus · 16/08/2019 12:13

Hazel! Deffo. (iris is lovely though, maybe for your next girl? Wink

AllTheUserNamesAreTaken · 16/08/2019 12:14

Hazel is lovely

PetraRabbit · 16/08/2019 12:21

Hazel! Especially as she'd be an autumn baby. Hazel Catherine is lovely.

Mammyloveswine · 16/08/2019 12:30

Love Iris... not a fan of hazel at all!

KateUrrer · 16/08/2019 13:35

I much prefer Iris.

IsobelRae23 · 16/08/2019 14:14

Not a fan of either. Although I know a lovely 18 year old Iris and a witch of aunt named Hazel- she’s 85. So maybe that clouds my judgment.

StarlingsInSummer · 16/08/2019 14:15

I prefer Hazel, but what do you think about Rowan?
