Middle name - Bloom or Posie?

We're in a naming dilemma, she is being registered today so we need to make a decision! Her first name is going to be Nova but we're stuck on the middle name, Posie works better with our nickname for her but I still love Bloom, so which works better..

Nova Bloom or Nova Posie?

Congratulations! Nova is a stunning name. I'd go for Bloom, Nova Bloom has a lovely ring to it.

IWouldBeSuperb · 12/08/2019 10:57

Nova Bloom sounds better I think -

I wouldn't pick a middle name based on a nickname as presumably you won't be using them both day to day?

What's the nickname?

YellowCaterpillar · 12/08/2019 11:01

Thanks for the replies, nickname is Po (short for potato), it was our bump name for her and has well and truly stuck Grin

Bloom is better than Posie.

NoSauce · 12/08/2019 11:04

Both don’t fit right to me OP. I would put something long with Nova.

Summerunderway · 12/08/2019 11:05

Blossom?

missmouse101 · 12/08/2019 11:10

Poise is adorable, Bloom makes me think of broom, bloomer or algal bloom=murky water.

AverageMummy · 12/08/2019 11:11

Not really keen on either. What about Nova Penelope or Nova Paloma?

missmouse101 · 12/08/2019 11:11

Posie I meant of course...wretched autocorrect.

NoSauce · 12/08/2019 11:16

Blossom would be better. Primrose or Marigold would work.

Sophronia · 12/08/2019 11:33

I’m not keen on either of the options. I like the pp’s suggestions of Primrose or Marigold.

Emthebaker · 12/08/2019 12:03

I think they’re both lovely choices, I’d personally go for Nova Bloom Flowers

percheron67 · 12/08/2019 12:08

Bloom is not a name - it is what flowers do!

AcrobaticCardigan · 12/08/2019 12:19

Agree with PP - Bloom isn’t a name. Not sure Nova Posie rings correctly either.

MarshmallowsOnToast · 12/08/2019 12:30

I don't think Nova Posie has a nice ring to it at all. It sounds weird. Sorry Op.

Not too keen on Nova Bloom either but it's the better option out of the two.

SallyWD · 12/08/2019 12:34

I don't think either sound good. Sorry. Nova Blossom is better. Nova Violet is even better if you want to stick with a flower theme.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 12/08/2019 12:37

How about Scotia instead?

Hairyheadphones · 12/08/2019 12:42

Nova Violet as suggested by a PP is beautiful.

Nova Posie doesn’t quite flow.
Nova bloom makes my think of some sort of algae bloom.

BarkandCheese · 12/08/2019 12:47

Nova Violet is fab. Other nature/flower possibilities I like

Nova Iris
Nova Fleur
Nova Autumn
Nova Lily
Nova Rowan
Nova Holly
Nova Skye

Astronica · 12/08/2019 13:00

Nova Bloom sounds better. If you want a 'Po' name I would consider Nova Primrose, Nova Polly, Nova Eponine.

diddlediddle · 12/08/2019 13:01

Votes for blossom or primrose - both "proper" names and go better with a short first name.

If you really have to choose between bloom and posie I would go for posie because it has a direct link to the cute bump name. Bloom makes me think of what you do when you're pregnant which seems weird for a little girl!

IsobelRae23 · 12/08/2019 14:05

Poise doesn’t go and Bloom isn’t a name,, seriously it sounds silly.
Blossom
Primrose
Ivy
Willow
Fern
Eden
Poppy
Daisy
Holly
Iris
Jayde
Luna
Quinn
Rae

I like Nova Rae best!

barryfromclareisfit · 12/08/2019 14:10

“Spread ‘em, Blossom, see if we know you” was something my then husband would say.

Antonin · 12/08/2019 14:13

Do you really want her nn to be bloomers or even new bloomers?
Also not a very elegant name sounding word.

starkid · 12/08/2019 14:38

I'd personally pick a slightly more namey-name/traditional name to go with Nova, as that's already fairly 'out-there', so nice to have 2 options of different levels of stand-out or blend-in, depending on what she'd prefer when older
(I don't want this to seem mean! I like Nova it's lovely, just putting the idea out there)

If definitely going to be one of those, them Posie as it's slightly more of a name rather than verb.
