Thoughts on Kolinda? Middle name would probably be Belle. Smile

No

Kalindi or Kalinda are much better.

Your version is too close to colon/colander

Tish008 · 04/08/2019 16:31

Sorry its a no from me.

How would you say that, like collinder? The sieve like kitchen thing?

Knitclubchatter · 04/08/2019 16:31

Koala bear?

Moominfan · 04/08/2019 16:33

What are the origins of the name? Never heard it before.

iknowimcoming · 04/08/2019 16:33

No don't like it either sorry - it's a bit too much like changing letters slightly to make it sound cooler for me. I like Kalinda or Calinda tho although very similar to calendar

Moominfan · 04/08/2019 16:33

Ooh what about calista?

zvjezdica · 04/08/2019 16:33

@Tish008 the stress is on the "lin" syllable, like Melinda or Belinda

Colander? Sorry OP, it’s a no from me

zvjezdica · 04/08/2019 16:35

@Moominfan there's a French folk song about a girl named Colinda/Kolinda, and it's also the first name of the President of Croatia. It appears to be a form of Colleen (but I don't like Colleen much)

To strain pasta in - yes. To name my baby - no.

Shantotto · 04/08/2019 16:39

I prefer Kalinda like the character in The good wife.

cccameron · 04/08/2019 17:22

Much prefer Kalinda

papit · 04/08/2019 17:22

Belle is lovely. Kolinda on the other hand...

PreschoolPlease · 04/08/2019 17:25

It sounds like a car name, the Seat Kolinda, the Ford Kolinda, the VW Kolinda.

cccameron · 04/08/2019 17:25

I think with that spelling alot of people would pronounce it Koe-linder and I'd prefer the Ka-linder pronunciation. Not sure if that's what you want though

carbuncleonapigsposterior · 04/08/2019 17:29

Sounds like medicine "have you taken your Kolinda today?"

Angrybottlethrower · 04/08/2019 17:45

Colander

Frith2013 · 04/08/2019 18:45

Does she have to strain your vegetables?

Emergencyusername100 · 04/08/2019 19:32

I have never heard this name in real life, but it made me smile. My elder brother is Colin and my sister Linda. Naturally my mother regularly addressed the latter as Colinda in error. When I came along I then had to spend my childhood being summoned as Colinda-Samantha.

Now I’m off to name change back again!

TheJoxter · 04/08/2019 19:35

I’d instantly think colander too, sorry!

meditrina · 04/08/2019 19:36

If you have Croatian (or other Slav) ancestry, then it would be a lovely choice.

As you can see, it doesn't necessarily sound right to anglophones

Colourfulest · 04/08/2019 19:43

I think it's lovely and straight away I knew it was pronounced like Melinda/Belinda. Figured it would be easy since we all know how Linda is pronounced Hmm

It's not like we pronounce Melinda like Mel-in-dear. Dunno why people are struggling with it.

LittleDoritt · 04/08/2019 19:46

It just makes me thinking of straining vegetables.

Equatoria · 04/08/2019 20:12

I thought colander straight away.

Tillygetsit · 04/08/2019 23:03

Sorry but it sounds like the parents were called Colin and Linda and mashed their names together.
