So I've been through thousands of names and not one stands out, here's the list of names that I likeSmileNot sure if I have a "type", popularity doesn't really bother me as long as I love the name...

-Daisy
-Elsie
-Lily
-Bella
-Ruby
-Heidi
-Maisie
-Poppy
-Isla
-Mia
-Gracie

Which out of my list do you think is the nicest? Also can you suggest a name that you like, thanks Smile

Isla is my favourite from your list. Have you also considered Iona or Ailsa?

DNAwrangler · 28/07/2019 21:50

i like Heidi best from your list.

I also like Beth(an), Tess, Merryn

FreddiesMammy · 28/07/2019 21:50

Elsie

PixieLumos · 28/07/2019 21:51

Lovely list of names! I think Heidi sounds great.

AdaColeman · 28/07/2019 22:02

Heidi is my favourite by a long way.
Ruby would be my second choice.

Gracie (Grace) and Bella are already hugely popular.

Elsie and Maisie and Poppy are my least favourite.

You seem to have chosen sweet names for a little girl, but think about them being grown too!

Shayleigh · 28/07/2019 22:04

I love Heidi

Hayls17 · 28/07/2019 22:10

Top 3 would be Ruby, Isla and Gracie

LeithWalk · 28/07/2019 22:29

A LO I taught was Elspeth (nn Elsie), I really liked that.

Tillygetsit · 28/07/2019 23:16

Ruby Bella or Maisie.

small2018 · 28/07/2019 23:32

Mia

All the rest are sooooooo popular.

Frith2013 · 29/07/2019 00:17

Elsie or Ruby for me.

Astronica · 29/07/2019 00:21

My favourites are Ruby and Mia. Lovely names. I do like many of the others on your list though as well. I dislike Heidi and Bella.

Some other suggestions: Tessa, Flora, Sascha, Kitty, Nellie, Greta, Violet.

Time40 · 29/07/2019 00:32

Isla.

I really dislike Ruby, for some reason.

Litanicon · 29/07/2019 01:37

HalfManHalfLabrador · 29/07/2019 01:47

Elsie, Lily, Ruby

Tavannach · 29/07/2019 02:01

Ruby

Calla

babyno2cooking · 29/07/2019 05:51

Thanks all, like I said I already know how popular most of these names are. I don't understand how these aren't "adult names" if they are so popular, doesn't that show that in 20 years time almost adults will have these type of names?Grin there's no baby sharons or Pauline's born now is there?

I also like Sophia, which I know has also become popular. Doesn't bother me SmileI'd say my top 3 are probably Heidi, Ruby and Daisy.

I like maisie.

What about Mila?

BlueWonder · 29/07/2019 06:59

Sometimes you get a name on the tail end of a 'boom'. So the main popularity has passed but when the child grows up they have a slight dated sounding name though not classic or old enough to be cool. I was named a decade after the peak for my name and it''s a bit ageing....on paper at least!. I have friends with 'young' names...their parents were a bit ahead of the curve.

All luck really and hard to predict but a few in your list have been super-popular for the last 15 years (3 Ruby's in my teen DC's group of a dozen friends for example, at least half a dozen Evie's in the year group (not on your list I know),. Plus tons of Isabelle/Bella/Ella's in another DC's slightly older group of uni friends. Then if you hit a name right in the middle of the boom there is always discussion and confusion as to which Ruby or Evieor Lily is which and each will always be referred to by teachers and peers with their surname or initial as well. So make sure she is likely to like her surname too if you go this route as she'll hear it a lot. If surname is a bit harsh sounding or difficult to say, I would search for a similar but more individual first name.

CatteStreet · 29/07/2019 07:00

'They are ALL so generic and popular.'

This. None of them stand out to me. Sorry.

I think Lily is the best of the bunch. How about Lilian (which is lovely, has a nice 'vintage' feel and I think is still unusual)?

TenThousandSpoons · 29/07/2019 07:09

Lovely list - Daisy and Heidi are my favourites.
My dd has a popular name (top 5 the year she was born) but is the only one in her class. There are 3 girls with a much less popular name.

How about Lucy or Emily?

bridgetreilly · 29/07/2019 07:21

I would call her Elizabeth and then you can use Elsie or Lily as a nickname, or Betsy or Beth or Eliza. Lots of cool options for you and her, and a name that will never date.

small2018 · 29/07/2019 09:19

Out of your top 3 I like Ruby the best.

VivienneHolt · 29/07/2019 10:28

I like Daisy, Bella and Isla. I agree that they are very popular names but I don't think that matters if you like them.

I am a hard no for Gracie unless she's actually christened Grace. Gracie is fine as a nickname, but it's too twee to saddle her with as a Christian name. She will have to wear the name as an adult as well as as a child!

LittleDoritt · 29/07/2019 10:32

I'm not wildly enthusiastic for any of them. I seem to know nine million already.
I'd go for something a bit different like Ivy, Tess or Nella.
