Odette

Thoughts? We already have an Aurora, aged 3. I know they’re both names of princesses and from ballet so I’m concerned that using them as sibling names will be a bit... twee?

Other name suggestions are appreciated for a girl and boy. Middle names for Odette too as we’re struggling.

Thanks, Liz x

Beautiful name and the combination is wonderful. How about a flower for the middle name? And Ottilie as an alternative first name?

Greyhound22 · 28/07/2019 15:50

I really like them. I don't think they're twee.

tierraJ · 28/07/2019 15:51

Makes me think of Odette Churchill, the wartime SOE spy.

PixieLumos · 28/07/2019 15:55

Lovely! Both nice names and will go nice together.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 28/07/2019 16:04

Complements Aurora beautifully! Not twee at all. Love them both. Memorable and unique for both girls also. Good taste OP!

LizzyMargaret · 28/07/2019 16:06

I was honestly expecting negative reactions!

@FoggyDay58 I like Ottilie, thank you. Viola is just about the only middle name I can think of for Odette right now so flower names might be worth checking out.

Love Odette! I think it goes nicely with Aurora.

mum2jakie · 28/07/2019 16:21

Have you considered Claudette? It's a similar sound but I prefer it to the 'odd' sound.

Leakinglikeacolander · 28/07/2019 16:22

Odette is lovely.

MagicKingdomDizzy · 28/07/2019 16:27

I like Odette.

Also, Yvette which is slightly softer sounding.

Fifthtimelucky · 28/07/2019 16:29

I know a little Odette. I like it.

GMtoBe · 28/07/2019 16:35

I absolutely love Odette. Definitely use it!

mrsw2 · 28/07/2019 16:44

Lovely name , also like Manon.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 28/07/2019 16:50

Possible flower names for a middle besides Viola:

Odette Lily
Odette Rosina
Odetta Florentina

daisypond · 28/07/2019 18:55

Sorry, I think they are very twee together just because of the ballet link. But I’m not sure how many people will pick up on that. I like Odette, though. It has some strength about it.

Changedname81 · 28/07/2019 18:55

Does Odette have an Odd sound? (To a pp)

I pronounce it O-Debt not Odd-et

Is that right?

Either way they match really nicely

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 28/07/2019 19:01

I love Odette it's beautiful, so is Odile.

MadameJosephine · 28/07/2019 19:04

Beautiful, both Odette and Aurora are gorgeous names. For middle names how about

Odette Joy
Odette Margarite

bigmap · 28/07/2019 19:08

I think it looks nice written down but is it pronounced "oh-debt"? (best I could go phonetically). If that's how it's pronounced I think it's awful

pinkhousesarebest · 28/07/2019 19:20

The only Odettes I know (France) are 60 plus. It is a very old fashioned name.

LizzyMargaret · 28/07/2019 19:35

It’s pronounced Oh-Deht or Aw-Deht. No odd sound in it.

Odette is gorgeous, and goes beautifully with Aurora.

BareBelliedSneetch · 28/07/2019 19:41

I love the name Odette.

I know a 40-something Odette.

Ottilie is a good call too (I know a 4 yr old ottilie)

Frith2013 · 29/07/2019 00:31

It’s ok but Ottilie was on my list.

For some reason, Ursula has popped into my mind, which isn’t similar at all.

merlotqueen · 29/07/2019 00:33

I like Odette and worked with a lovely Odile once.
