Cazastrophe · 21/07/2019 21:18

It’s a bit too 80s and all the Kirsty’s I’ve known have either been chavs or nasty. It’s a bit of a bitch kind of name!

Sophronia · 21/07/2019 21:26

It does feel a bit 80s.

Bossbabynx5 · 21/07/2019 21:27

I like it! Known two kirsty one is like 38 ish now and one is about 18 but I think it is a little bit dated sorry but it is nice so go for it! I also like kristi/kristy kristen and kirsten even tho I do think Kirsten is abit Irish sounding mind but they are more modern sounding options

sleepyhead · 21/07/2019 21:32

It's one of my favourite girls names.

aibutohavethisusername · 21/07/2019 21:36

I love the name. It is the top name on the soon to be extinct list so it would be good if it could have a revival.

BalletTapNModern · 21/07/2019 21:37

Scottish, 80s.

Makes me think of Kirsty McColl.

AJPTaylor · 21/07/2019 21:38

I have a primary school daughter Kirsty.
It's the perfect combination of a name that everyone knows but no one her age is called it.

youspoileverythingforme · 21/07/2019 21:40

I like it, it was quite unusual even in its hey day and due a revival I think. Strong but feminine.

Pixilicious · 21/07/2019 21:44

I know 2 Kirstys and they are bothering lovely so to me it’s a lovely name.

Pixilicious · 21/07/2019 21:45

both lovely

RoseMartha · 21/07/2019 21:57

I like it a lot

Jayneisagirlsname · 21/07/2019 22:02

I'm one! I'm quite nice. I'm okay with my name though some people shorten it to Kirst, which sounds too much like Cursed to me!

Apolloanddaphne · 21/07/2019 22:22

I am Scottish and I love the name Kirsty along with Kirsten. I know lovely young women with both these names.

Bristolgal · 22/07/2019 04:51

I really like it! Very pretty! It has the advantage of being known by everyone but not often used. I love all the 80s names though! Ha ha!

Astronica · 22/07/2019 13:47

I like it, and would like to see it used for a little one. As others have said it does ring of the 80's, but not in a bad way.

formerbabe · 22/07/2019 13:48

Very 80s. Kirsty would have read the Jacqui magazine and had a perm.

Pinktinker · 22/07/2019 13:48

Awful 90s name. Went to school with a few, they weren’t the nicest of folk...

Aquamarine1029 · 22/07/2019 13:51

I really dislike it. It's ugly sounding for one, and I knew two of them and they were both horrid people.

NorthEndGal · 22/07/2019 13:57

I love it, but I'm biased, as it's my god mothers name

Yaflamingalah · 22/07/2019 13:59

I’m not keen. It’s a very 80s name to me and the Kirsty’s I knew at school were very rough around the edges.

Sakura7 · 22/07/2019 14:09

I'm not keen on the sound of it, but I think comments like "all the ones I've known were bitches" are silly. If those girls had been called any other name, they still would have been bitches. I knew two horrible Jennifers in school, but I'm sure there are lots of nice ones out there too.

I've known three Kirstys, ranging in age from 22 to 40. All very bubbly, outgoing people, the two older ones are massive party animals, and all of them are really nice genuine people.

Frith2013 · 22/07/2019 14:59

Very old fashioned.

Dull.

Makes me think go crispy and crusty.

Changedname81 · 22/07/2019 19:01

Hahah crusty? Fab! Thanks peeps Grin

The only thing I don’t like is “Kirst” as a pp said it makes me think of Cursed .

Plus on the phone people hear it as Cathy.

Kirsty isn’t so bad but I wish I was a Kirsten, it just seems a bit more grown up.

It was a close call though, for about an hour I was a Kylie... 😆

daisypond · 22/07/2019 19:05

I like it. Traditional Scottish name.

Pieceofpurplesky · 22/07/2019 19:11

I teach a Kirstie and a Kristie - Both lovely names
