MIddle name for Charlotte?

I think we're pretty much decided on Charlotte for DD, but we've found it really difficult to agree even on that and we're now struggling for a middle name. So much so that DH is muttering about not giving her one at all, which I am not on board with!

I like classic names, nothing too out there or modern, but DH thinks names like Grace, Rose etc are 'boring'. So we need something in the middle. We also have quite a long complicated surname so we're looking for something fairly short!

Please give me some inspiration, I've been trawling websites and baby boards but just can't find anything that seems quite right!

Charlotte is a beautiful name

I’d go for something unusual as a contrast:
Charlotte Emmeline
Charlotte Rosa
Charlotte Miranda

Thanks everyone

Rosa is out, unfortunately, as DH has already overruled it. I LOVE Charlotte Emmeline but I think it will just be too long with our awful four syllable surname. Charlotte Louise is nice - I actually prefer Charlotte Louisa but one of my best friends has just used Louisa for her little girl so 🤷‍♀️

I wouldn't worry too much about the number of syllables, just go for something you like and which runs well. How about Charlotte Elizabeth if you're looking for a more traditional middle name?

wellingtonsandwaffles · 17/07/2019 08:36

I love Charlotte Marie and Charlotte Iris.

peasando · 17/07/2019 08:42

Some fab suggestions here, I'm scribbling them all down to show DH! It's not even so much the number of syllables as the sheer number of letters - I have two very long names (had a short surname before I got married) and sometimes I struggle with things like not having enough space in forms!

Maybe a stupid reason for overruling a name but I find it really irritating so don't want to wish that on DD if I can avoid it!

@cheeserolls I think Eloise is my favourite so far

Smile

I had a long name and back 25years ago when I joined uni we had to fill in about 150forms and I swore I'd never give my children the same.... only it ended up with both having long names and mine is now even longer.

Though in my defence and experience paper forms aren't the norm these days anyway.... auto fill on google chrome deals with most forms Smile

DH doesn't like Eloise and has also just dismissed Ivy (which I also love) as being an old lady's name.

Maybe it would be easier just to get rid of DH...? 🤔
