What do you think when you hear it?
Is it popular? Classic?
My grandmother’s name is Margo so sentimental but still unsure.

Thank you :)

It is a lovely name but as a HV I've had about 5 of them this year so it's definitely growing in popularity. They are all lovely btw!

mummytooneprincess · 13/07/2019 23:11

I absolutely love it every time I hear it!!

Watersnail · 13/07/2019 23:27

I don't like it TBH but it seems many do as it's quite popular again now.

mum2jakie · 13/07/2019 23:34

I just see Maggot, sorry!

lickthewrapper · 13/07/2019 23:52

Margot is a beautiful and classy name. I like it!

DramaAlpaca · 13/07/2019 23:57

My grandmother was known as Margo too, so I understand the sentimental reasons for wanting to use it.

I don't like Margot, though. I think it's a harsh, unattractive name. But it's getting popular, so clearly lots of people disagree with me.

Misspennypolly · 14/07/2019 00:11

Lovely but getting very popular

mintich · 14/07/2019 00:17

Love it!! Elegant and timeless

Frith2013 · 14/07/2019 01:05

It seems to be every at the moment.

It reminds me of escargot.

Quintella · 14/07/2019 02:25

It's nice but v of the moment. I know two who were born in the last month.

Yestermo · 14/07/2019 02:28

fussy, ugly name imvho

tabbiemoo · 14/07/2019 07:56

Never liked it, I think it’s quite an ugly name to be honest. Would consider as a middle name for sentimental reasons.

TheFutureFreaksMeOut · 14/07/2019 08:03

I like Margo but with the T on the end it just looks like maggot to me!

OhamIreally · 14/07/2019 09:10

Makes me think of Penelope Keith in The Good Life but that's because I am old.

Grufallosfriends · 14/07/2019 09:10

Margot is pronounced Mar-gott in many non French speaking countries eg Germany, Scandinavia etc.

I'd spell it Margo to avoid confusion.

Grufallosfriends · 14/07/2019 09:11

And it avoids the Maggot comparison

BuffaloCauliflower · 14/07/2019 09:12

Also have a grandmother who was known as Margot (not her real name though) I think it’s lovely but it’s getting very popular. There will be loads around soon. That might not matter to you though.

SuzieQ10 · 14/07/2019 09:26

I really like the name. There are two of them in DDs reception class.

sockatoe · 14/07/2019 09:28

Too The Good Life I'm afraid. I'm sure it suits/suited your Grandmother though

sue51 · 14/07/2019 09:43

Lovely name. Makes me think of Margot Fontane.

JustTheCrowsAndTheBeef · 14/07/2019 10:53

I love it, but I think it’s having a moment and might date. It was originally a diminutive of Marguerite, if that’s an option.

MadisonAvenue · 14/07/2019 11:00

I'm another who thinks of Margot in The Good Life, it's really harsh sounding to me and not a nice name.

Grufallosfriends · 14/07/2019 11:38

I know a Margot shortened to Marge.

Pinktinker · 14/07/2019 11:41

Popular atm I’m afraid but I like it.

BarryBarryTaylor · 14/07/2019 11:42

I prefer Morag as it isn’t so popular but Margot is lovely
