Probably one of the worst suggestions I’ve ever seen on here actually. Worse than the person who wanted to name their daughter ‘Tree’

I have a Latin American colleague called Prince. Not a name I would give a child.

I'd presume they had African heritage and had chosen a name that reflected that. If it then turned out that they didn't, I'd find it pretty weird.

It's just too out there for me.
It's a bit tacky to name a child after a pop singer. I just don't think it's a name for a person, maybe a pet.

I'd be expecting to see a big slobbering dog come bounding round the corner if I heard someone calling out "Prince" (unless baby is Black African) sorry. Have you said it out loud with the surname he will have, or tried saying out loud - ie here is Prince Caspian, or Prince McNuggets, or can I register my son Prince McPrinceFace at this dental practice please? You will need to be prepared for your son having to learn very quickly how to spell both his first and surname (& any other middle names he might be called) and to patiently explain, yes that's my name, yes I know what it means, no I am not a prince of royal birth, no, I am not related to the Queen, yes my parents love and wanted me ...…. and the merciless teasing he will get all through school and so on. I know - I was "gifted" with a really unusual forename, please don't put him through it.

It's a title, not a name.

If the family were from somewhere where that was a normal name then I’d think nothing of it; otherwise that the parents had delusions of grandeur.

But as you’ve said Nate too now, I’d assume you were fans of Prince.

Funny you should say that, Hmmmbop. Some years ago I met an African man at a function who was called, "Prince"; me being me I thought he was a prince and addressed him as, "Your royal Highness". What a prat (me, not him).

Makes me think of Kardashian straight off.

I taught a Prince for 2 years and I always thought of the artist formally known as rather than the title.

My ds’s friend is called Prince, so we are used to it🤷🏻‍♀️
