Same as pps. I taught a boy named Prince , he was of African origin. Also had a girl named Queen in my class once.

steppemum · 09/07/2019 11:27

the singer.

or a dog

not a baby (please say it isn't a baby)

steppemum · 09/07/2019 11:36

oh actually, to be fair, yes I have met kids/adults of African origin with the name, and it doesn't sound odd in that context!

Scorpiovenus · 09/07/2019 11:36

Chavvy

sneakypinky · 09/07/2019 11:38

I'd think what kind of muppet names their poor innocent child that.

clpsmum · 09/07/2019 11:39

@starfishcoffee fab user name 💜

WednesdaySpinner · 09/07/2019 11:40

It reminds me of Prince from Hollyoaks (my guilty pleasure that reminds me of me youth, even if I spend 99% of the time marvelling at the ridiculous storylines).

MaidenMotherCrone · 09/07/2019 11:41

In my head I'd be singing.....

My name is Prince and I am funky
My name is Prince the one and only
I did not come to funk around
'Till I get your daughter I won't leave this town
In the beginning God made the sea
But on the seventh day he made me
He was tryin' to rest y'all when He heard the sound
Sound like a guitar cold gettin' down
I tried to bust a high note, but I bust a string
My God was worried 'til he heard me sing

Then I'd have Prince playing in my head all day.... love him.

Raspberry berets

BarryBarryTaylor · 09/07/2019 12:07

I did wonder how long it would take for chavvy to crop up 😒

We did consider Nate but we have a friend who is called that and we see them on a regular basis and I don’t want them to think we have named baby after them. Baby is definitely a boy and due imminently.
I am undecided if I think it’s great or ridiculous and I thought if I put it on here it may help me either way...but it hasn’t Grin

Michael Jackson's eldest son is called Prince.

WeaselsRising · 09/07/2019 13:39

If you are black go for it. If not, no.

SilverTheCat · 09/07/2019 14:24

I see it as a black African name so if you're black african then I wouldn't bat an eyelid

If you're not, I'd think you were ridiculous

diddlediddle · 09/07/2019 17:06

If an entire thread of people telling you it is ridiculous hasn't helped then I guess you've found the right name for your child?

sneakypinky · 09/07/2019 18:12

Ooh how about baby Blanket?

BarryBarryTaylor · 09/07/2019 18:13

It hasn’t exactly been an entire thread of everyone telling me it’s a ridiculous name though has it?

Is it wrong that I like majesty for a girl Blush (I'm not pregnant just saw the thread)

MsMustDoBetter · 09/07/2019 18:17

I would expect it to be the late pop star or a per dog.

DickZillaofTheVilla · 09/07/2019 18:24

I would think it was an African family

NameChangeNugget · 09/07/2019 18:27

I would think poor child.

Rachelover40 · 09/07/2019 18:29

The artist formerly known as

Why would anyone call a baby, 'Prince' ? Or 'Princess', come to that, unless you are KP and PA.

'Brendon' apparently means 'prince'. I got that information from here:

www.google.com/search?q=what+is+a+name+that+means+Prince%3F&rlz=1C5CHFA_enGB717GB727&oq=what+is+a+name+that+means+Prince%3F&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l3.11669j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Shadow1234 · 09/07/2019 19:26

Why don't you call him Kingsley and then you can call him King for short!!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 09/07/2019 19:43

I’d think African parents- it’s like Blessing or Precious, perfectly normal amongst certain groups

SlipperOrchid · 09/07/2019 20:03

Are you black African OP?

It helps to give context really.

Prettylittlelady · 09/07/2019 20:26

I’d assume they were or African origin.
If they were white British id think it a little more strange for some reason and also assume there are huge prince fans.
However nothing surprises me as I know a little girl with the middle name Elvis.
