Expecting DC#2, still quite early but down to 2 names each, sibling is Matilda (Tilly)...

For boy...
Atticus (Kit) my favourite
Arthur (Artie) DH favourite

For girl...
Eloise (Elle or Lou) DH favourite
Eliza (Elle) my favourite

Very similar names I know but we’re kind of at a stalemate! Which do you prefer?

Atticus and Eloise

Fatkins · 29/06/2019 21:36

I'm with you op.

Atticus or Eliza.

Grufallosfriends · 29/06/2019 21:37

But not Kit! That reminds me of sports kit or something. Atticus is cool! I wouldn't shorten it.

AnonymousP · 29/06/2019 21:38

Arthur. Not Atticus!

I like both your girls names, but Eliza a bit more.

Pippilongstrumof · 29/06/2019 21:40

Atticus. Not Arthur!

I prefer Eloise. But not Lou (Loo Shock)

AuntieStella · 29/06/2019 21:45

Kit is the traditional and well known nn for Christopher (maybe also Christian) and I don't think it works at all with Atticus.

I'd go for Arthur for a boy and Elsa for a girl

(Which gives his preference for a boyband yours for a girl, which is fairly even-handed)

Pippilongstrumof · 29/06/2019 21:47

Kit isn't even part of Atticus?!

MMama18 · 29/06/2019 21:51

Should have said, I’m well aware Kit is not a usual shortening for Atticus, but a nickname can surely be anything you like? Our nieces nickname is Fi and that is nothing to do with her name. I also know a Tabitha who goes by Kitty. Christopher is our as it’s a name in the family, we don’t like Elsa because of the frozen reference. These are the names we’re down to do it will be between these x

Atticus/Eloise 100%

Quintella · 29/06/2019 22:03

I find the Atticus/Kit thing slightly odd as it indicates you really want to call him Kit but can't use Christopher so have searched around for a name that could sorta kinda not really sound connected to Kit. And settled on quite an unusual one which presumably one get used much? I just don't really see the point.

I love Eloise.

MMama18 · 29/06/2019 22:06

Atticus has actually always been my favourite name for a boy, we don’t like Christopher. DH likes Kit which makes him warm to Atticus slightly more. I call our daughter Matilda mostly, DH calls her Tilly, the same would probably follow for her siblings name x

LorelaiRoryEmily · 29/06/2019 22:09

Tilly makes sense for Matilda but kit makes absolutely no sense for Atticus!

AquaPris · 29/06/2019 22:10

Attic us and Eloise!

Cheerfullygo4 · 29/06/2019 22:12

Arthur and Eliza but not Elle. Too try hard.

Quintella · 29/06/2019 22:12

I mean, you're right that lots of people go by nicknames unconnected to their real name and if I met a Kit whose proper name was Atticus I probably wouldn't ponder it too much. I just find it a bit puzzling seeing as you're pre-planning on calling Atticus Kit. If that makes any sense.

Watersnail · 29/06/2019 22:13

Arthur and Eliza

I don't really get Kit as nickname for Atticus. Wouldn't it shorten to Tic rather than Kit? But if you're of the "any nickname goes for any first name" persuasion then it's up to you of course.

Watersnail · 29/06/2019 22:15

(Not actually suggesting Tic BTW!) Grin

MMama18 · 29/06/2019 22:17

@Watersnail that was kind of our thinking, that ‘Kit’ essentially had the same sounds as ‘Tic’ so wasn’t a million miles away... obviously getting slated for it on MN is now making us maybe consider Atti...

Love Eloise. Prefer Arthur, though I am not really keen on either. I don't understand the need to decide on nicknames before the child is born. If you like a name use it Hmm

AverageMummy · 29/06/2019 22:25

Kit works well for Atticus I can’t see how people can’t see the link given TIC is in the name - I don’t actually like Atticus though so my vote is Arthur

Both Eloise and Eliza are beautiful

Bellaposey · 29/06/2019 22:28

Arthur and Elodie. I love Kit as a nickname bit it's not a nickname for Atticus.

lakeswimmer · 29/06/2019 22:44

Kit and Eliza - two of my favourite names.

I'm another one that thinks Kit-short-for-Atticus doesn't make any sense. Just decide between the two or call him Arthur!

Cathyheathcliff · 29/06/2019 22:44

Atticus and Eloise are my favourites
