Boring or classic?

We're expecting shortly and have a shortlist for DS, we do have a favourite but I can't think of a middle name for any of them.
Also can we use one of them if it's the name of a close female friend (I think she would be delighted) and a distant family members rabbit Confused

They are:

William
Edward (won't be teddy)
Thomas
Frankie

Love the first 3, especially William. Not keen on Frankie, it's not classic to me (reminds me of a song so you can guess my age pretty accurately).

binglybonglyboom · 24/06/2019 18:31

Brilliant Frankie was the one i wasn't sure about, the first 3 I love

Really don’t like Frankie at all.
William is ok
Thomas is really nice
Love Edward !

Mac47 · 24/06/2019 18:37

Another no for Frankie, did like the song though!
William and Thomas I really like. I do like Edward, but don't like the shortenings, though teddy is my pet hate, so at least it wouldn't be that!

AverageMummy · 24/06/2019 19:15

Frankie definitely isn’t classic but Frances is although not my taste
William & Edward are lovely
Thomas is ok

OldAndWornOut · 24/06/2019 19:17

Oh that Frankie song springs to mind here, too.
I hated that song!

Loveislandaddict · 24/06/2019 19:19

Classic names.

Franklin instead of Frankie, with Frankie as nn?

Bluerussian · 24/06/2019 19:28

Franklin is nice, can call him 'Frankie' or 'Frank' for short.

William, Edward and Thomas are all very good names.

binglybonglyboom · 24/06/2019 19:34

Thank you all! I actually prefer franklin to Frankie!

Not a fan of Frankie but I don’t mind Francis shortened to Frank/Fran.

Owlbert · 24/06/2019 22:12

Not keen on any on the list but really like Franklin!

Chewbecca · 24/06/2019 22:15

Like William / Will and Edward / Ed. Good names.

Ploppymoodypants · 24/06/2019 22:15

Like them all apart from Frankie
Franklin is ok ish

Ohyesiam · 24/06/2019 22:16

Frankie is not classic

Whoops75 · 24/06/2019 22:19

Don’t like Frankie or Franklin

The other are both classic and boring sorry

SellFridges · 24/06/2019 22:20

They’re very boring. It really depends if you mind your child being one of many. I have a common name and although I do like my name, I almost always have to also use my surname and have done all my life.

whitehalleve · 24/06/2019 22:20

Frankie is the odd one out. Not a classic. The others are.

powershowerforanhour · 24/06/2019 22:21

I love William and would like to have called DD it if she had been a DS!
Thomas and Edward also good.
Slightly less keen on Frankie thought it would grow on me, and there is the Frankie Dettori association, he is pretty cool.

Distant family rabbit doesn't matter at all and will be dead in a few years anyway so wouldn't affect choice

Fifthtimelucky · 24/06/2019 22:36

I agree that Frankie is the odd one out.

All the other three are great names. Personally, my choice would probably be Edward, but go with whichever one sounds best with your surname (and avoid William if your surname begins with a C).

DramaAlpaca · 24/06/2019 22:47

I like them all apart from Frankie.

Wheresthecoffee92 · 25/06/2019 05:17

I do think they're toeing the line between boring and classic. Actually the two things aren't mutually exclusive, a name can be both boring and classic, and I think the top three are both, although nice enough. I wouldn't go for Edward if you don't like Teddy as this seems to be the most popular nickname at the moment and so others might call him it (or he might like it and pick it for himself)

Fullmoons · 25/06/2019 14:18

A little boring maybe...

I like Franklin (Frankie) best and William (Willi) least

pinkgirlsxx · 25/06/2019 14:41

Love Edward

Marty93 · 26/06/2019 17:25

Love William and Edward - these are on my list too! Although Edward doesn't go with our last name so we probably won't use. But I love shortening Edward to Ned or Eddie! So cute!

Not keen on frankie - prefer just frank or franklin x

Pinkfinkle · 26/06/2019 17:48

I have an Edward so biased but it is a great name!
