Thoughts please!

What do you think of when you hear these names - what sort of person would come to mind to suit these names?

Thank you!

I prefer the sound of Marnie. However to me they belong in two entirely different name groups. You can't compare the two. Juniper is IMO very upper class Tory type, daddy's the CEO of a large successful company. Mummy stays at home and grows her own veg type name. Whereas Marnie is down to earth and a fun loving free spirited type name.

BettyUnderswoob · 19/06/2019 16:39

I much prefer Juniper. And I promise I’m not a Tory.

Marnie sounds like a nickname.

gerbilfun · 19/06/2019 16:40

Much prefer Marnie. Juniper doesn't even look like a name Confused

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 19/06/2019 16:42

Juniper makes me think G&T

Marnie makes me think pet

Saucery · 19/06/2019 16:44

I prefer Juniper. Slightly hippyish and fresh sounding.
Marnie is a bit Alfred Hitchcock, makes me think of twinsets and kitten heels.

Icklepup · 19/06/2019 17:01

I prefer Juniper with NN Juni, though, Marnie is quite nice too

DramaAlpaca · 19/06/2019 17:03

I prefer Marnie.

Juniper is a bit too hippy & try hard. I don't really see it as a name, tbh.

FizzyGreenWater · 19/06/2019 17:05

Argh what's this with Marnie popping up?

It's so horrible.

Harsh and yet also really whiney. Kind of American, in a Buddy/Randy kind of way. Marnie's brothers Randy and Buddy would yell across the porch for her to come look at the possum they just found. 'Maaaawnie! Hey our MAAAAWNIEEE!'

Sounds like a nickname but it isn't.

Juniper please Grin

carbuncleonapigsposterior · 19/06/2019 17:10

I think Juniper is great and would be even better if your surname were Berry. It isn't is it OP?

Peachbubble · 19/06/2019 17:19

Juniper

MsJuniper · 19/06/2019 17:21

I love both - obviously love Juniper (clue's in the name) but Marnie is super. It can be short for Marjorie I think.

bridgetreilly · 19/06/2019 17:46

Marnie sounds 1950s American. Juniper sounds super posh 1990s. Take your pick, OP.

AnonymousP · 19/06/2019 17:55

I don’t like the sound of Marnie, prefer Martha or Mamie or Mabel.

Juniper is cool, I quite like it!

TurquoiseAndPurple · 19/06/2019 18:07

Definitely Juniper. Love the nn Juno too.

MyNewBearTotoro · 19/06/2019 18:09

I love both names but DT2 is Juniper so of course I am biased and would say it’s the nicer of the two!

Manumanadoodoodadoo · 19/06/2019 18:13

I know a Jupiter her parents call her Juni which I don't think is esp nice as sounds like extended version of June. Don't particularly like either. Sorry. Marnie sounds like one if those shortened names like Milly Tilly or even worse-Tabby! All sound like cat names to me. Sorry but u did ask....

girlandboy · 19/06/2019 18:16

Marnie sounds like an American name, but also where I am in the Midlands the end of the name would drop and become Mar-neh. Ugh.

Juniper sounds like a gin lover.

Moondancer73 · 19/06/2019 18:20

Juniper is sweet, hippyish and joyful. Marnie puts me in mind of a tomboy

FunInTheSun2019 · 19/06/2019 18:26

I use to love Marnie, it was on my list as number one if we were having a girl..until Geordie Shore!
Then everybody started calling their little girls it..

I remember being in our local high street and two extremely rough women (who were friends) were being beyond loud, smoking, swearing, spitting etc while their children were running around causing havoc..they were both screaming 'MARNIE!! Fucking calm the fuck down!!' 'Marnie fuck off over there!'(that is just a sample of what was being screamed at them)
What topped it off was that both their daughters were called Marnie.

I won't ever forget that. So it ruined the name for me and it was very promptly crossed off my list!

userabcname · 19/06/2019 18:27

Juniper

TatianaLarina · 19/06/2019 18:48

I don’t love Marnie but Juniper is dreadful. I think horse.

carmenbea · 19/06/2019 18:49

I think Marnie is a lot nicer. Don't like Juniper and the ones I know have very hippyish parents it's quite a trendy name but not my taste

MrsSiriusBlack1 · 19/06/2019 18:50

Juniper?!GrinGrin

TatianaLarina · 19/06/2019 18:52

Juno is much better.

AshQ · 19/06/2019 19:05

I like both but love Juniper.
