AudacityOfHope · 09/06/2019 13:33

Max and Elena are ok; I seriously dislike the rest. I guess we have very dissimilar tastes!

Jonette · 09/06/2019 13:33

Leta and Julius.

Clarissa reminds me of Silence of the Lambs

Megan2018 · 09/06/2019 13:35

I like
Gemma (prefer Jemma though)
Elena
Sebastian
Louis
Max

Mintypea5 · 09/06/2019 13:35

My sister is Dayna instead of the American Dana spelling. She gets loads of compliments

qj17 · 09/06/2019 13:35

Don't like any sorry.

hmsvictory · 09/06/2019 13:37

The only one I'd even consider is max.

Are you in the UK? Definitely not Boris Blush

And severina? No

GlassSuppers · 09/06/2019 13:37

Not Boris!!

BlueMerchant · 09/06/2019 13:40

Carlotta, Helena and Max are the only ones I like.
How about Carmen? Isaac?

ThePhoenixRises · 09/06/2019 13:41

I don't really like any of them

Deanna is close to one of your suggestions and I prefer that.

Actually I do really like Anton and Leta after re reading your list.

SkydivingKittyCat · 09/06/2019 13:41

What's yours and your partner's heritage?

Severina is Nordic
Dimitri is Greek
Carlotta is French
Etc...

Do any of these origins have any relevance to your families? Maybe do a bit of googling to narrow down your search. Google the names with baby's surname to see if anything comes up (serial killers etc.) For example, Carlotta is the stage name of a very famous transgender cabaret artist. Wouldn't bother me naming a child that, but may bother others?

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 09/06/2019 13:42

Not Severin or Severina
Are you a Venus in Furs fan?
Most of the others are ok with the exception of Boris and Dora.

ChinAirTakingOver · 09/06/2019 13:42

Love Emil. Like Emmanuel and Louis.

Not keen on your girls names, I’m afraid.

SamBaileys · 09/06/2019 13:42

I'm not keen on any if I'm honest. What about Nathaniel?

NameChangedNoImagination · 09/06/2019 13:43

I like...
Katharina, but Katrina instead
Severina
Dora
Dana
Helena, but only if pronounced hell-AY-na

Anton
Emil
Sebastian
Emmanuel
Immanuel
Erik

Love your boys names.

taylorlynn · 09/06/2019 13:43

Clarissa and Julian are my favourites x

AuntMarch · 09/06/2019 13:46

Going by the Emil, Dana and Elena that I know I'm going to hazard a guess that you are not from the UK. If you live here though please do not, whatever you do, use Boris.

BackforGood · 09/06/2019 13:46

Gemma and Max are the only two names I'd consider from those lists.

PotatoCity · 09/06/2019 13:47

For girls, I would only consider Dana, Elena or Helena.

For boys, I like Sebastian, Julian, Louis or Max

userabcname · 09/06/2019 13:50

For a boy I really like Max or Sebastian. Not keen at all on Boris or Severin. The rest are ok.
For a girl, I like Helena and Katharina. Not keen on Severina or Alma. The rest are ok.

AdaColeman · 09/06/2019 13:51

Clarissa, Helena and Sebastian, Erik are the only ones I like.

Snipples · 09/06/2019 13:52

Severina and Severin scream Harry Potter to me. So I def wouldn't use those.

Katherine for a girl and Max for a boy.

Penny4Thoughts · 09/06/2019 13:56

maimainomai · 09/06/2019 14:01

Do any of these origins have any relevance to your families?

Yes. At least all the ones I've suggested. I only suggested names I know from 'real life' and don't feel unusual to me, if that makes sense.
My husband (who is mostly British) has much more of the 'buffet' mindset.
Carlotta is Italian :)

But I'll definitely Google famous name sakes.

No, I don't know what venus in fur is. But I am going to Google it.

Dayna and Dana sound like completely different names to me.

I adore Isaac but it was vetoed.

Katrina is adorable. But it's more of a nickname for Katharina, isn't it? Hm.🤔

Important information I forgot: we are currently not in the UK. We had originally been planning on returning and that may very well still happen one day.
I should have mentioned that...

Thanks for your honest answers. People in real life wouldn't be this frank. Unfortunately.

Only like Dana and Elena from your girls list. What about Elaina?

Don't like any of your boys names. How about, Evan, Isaac, Nathaniel, brody.

maimainomai · 09/06/2019 14:06

@AuntMarch

Yes, I'm not (I mean, I used to live in the UK for a time but I'm not British). I really should have mentioned that....

My DH is (mostly) British.

We currently don't live in the UK.
