So, 4 weeks to go and our name list isn’t getting any shorter.

Names currently in the running are
Sophie
Josie
Emmi (Emilia)
Eva/ Eve/ Evie
Bella

Ella
Amber

DH and I can’t agree on any of them.

My favourite is Ella. His is Amber problem is, we have a son called Sam.
(Sam and Ella sounds like a form of food poisoning) and Sam and Amber May be too samey!
All suggestions welcome

If you like Ella what about Elena?

I actually like them all but most of them are very very popular. Is that a factor for you??

I think Sam and amber are fine together

taylorlynn · 01/06/2019 08:05

I'm not keen on really popular names like Bella, Ella & Evie. Sophie & Josie I find quite boring I really like Amber Smile

Malyshek · 01/06/2019 08:11

I spontaneously thought "well, call her Ellamber" 😉

Malyshek · 01/06/2019 08:13

Or, how about Elinor ? It sort of combines sounds from both your favourites

NabooThatsWho · 01/06/2019 08:17

I love Eve/Evie.

bananasandwicheseveryday · 01/06/2019 08:18

I think Emmi / Emilia is very pretty . All the others are names I see frequently at work (in a primary school) among the children. I also have colleagues named Sophie and Amber.

RJnomore1 · 01/06/2019 08:18

Josie is good the rest are very overused

Rarfy · 01/06/2019 08:19

I love Amber and would have had it if dp agreed.

Anya?

Janus · 01/06/2019 08:22

Agree, there are Evie’s and most of the others everywhere! I only know one Josie (have 4 kids so know lots of class names!!) and I think it’s unusual and the one I know (friend of daughters) is very beautiful and a lovely girl so maybe clouds my judgement a bit but I really like it!

Ylvamoon · 01/06/2019 08:23

.... Sam & Evie. Perfect combination.
I am not keen on Amber.
I agree with Sam & Ella, although it won't matter so much as they get older. (But you might well be the laughing stock of family and friends for life!)

Queenoftheashes · 01/06/2019 08:25

I like Josie it’s retro !

BuffaloCauliflower · 01/06/2019 08:25

Yeh they’re meh. Emmi/Ella/Evie/Bella etc are all wildly overused and will really date for now. There will be 5 others in all their classes. My mums primary school is bursting with those names. Sophie is probably the nicest there, a few around but not loads, reasonably timeless

qj17 · 01/06/2019 08:26

If you like amber what about ember? It's a bit more modern.

missmouse101 · 01/06/2019 08:28

Amber is lovely, the rest are meh.

StCharlotte · 01/06/2019 08:29

Josie is lovely! I loved the tv programme Josie and the Pussycats and I was very jealous of my school friend Josie for having that name.

StCharlotte · 01/06/2019 08:31

Ember? As in burning coals? Not sure about that one Smile

DeadDoorpost · 01/06/2019 08:34

I've got a cousin called Emilia and actually, I don't like the name. Have to keep my mouth shut though. Also have a 2nd cousin called Emilie. Same feelings.

I'd go for Sophie, but then I'm not one for refusing to use the same initials for my children. My daughter will have the same first initial as my son once she's here in Sept.

Icklepup · 01/06/2019 08:46

Emilia!

Watersnail · 01/06/2019 09:19

Sophie - like
Josie - like if pronounced Jo-see not Josie
Emmi (Emilia) - like
Eva/ Eve/ Evie - like but these are super-popular ATM
Bella - meh
Ella - meh
Amber - like, but wouldn't put with Sam due to "am" sound in both (although I suppose you could refer to them jointly as Samba!)

Other "short and sweet" names that might go with Sam...

Lucy
Holly
Beth
Elsie
Imogen
Ruby
Alice
Laura

Pinkflowersx · 01/06/2019 09:29

My fav is Amber by a mile however it might clash a bit with Sam however I don't think it's a problem.

DuchessSybilVimes · 01/06/2019 09:36

Josie I like, it's just unusual enough to not be boring, but still easy to say & spell. She can be Jo if she wants later in life.

The others are all a bit meh to me.

BlueMerchant · 01/06/2019 09:37

Amber is my favourite. I'd still use it with a Sam.
Bella is nice but a bit too popular.
Sophie is lovely but prefer Sophia and I'd also worry they were too popular.
Eve is ok but all the varients are common.
Emmi, Ella, Josie- no.

Marlena1 · 01/06/2019 09:47

I have a Sophie (I know ppl say too overused but I loved it b4 it was). Love Amber and think it would be fine with Sam. Lucia/Jade are also nice I think.

UrsulaPandress · 01/06/2019 09:49

Eleanor nn Ella
Rosalind nn Rosa

Deafdonkey · 01/06/2019 10:01

Ella and Amber are lovely without Sam as a sibling. Agree either an illness or a drumming group.

Alice
Emily
