So...

baby girl is due in July. Hubby is wanting a GOT inspired name. Our shortlist so far.

Khaleesi
Shireen
Lyanna
Melisandre
Sansa
Cersei
Olenna

We're not keen on Arya or Catelyn so please don't suggest these as alternatives

What would you choose?

Don't do it. Naming a baby after a character in a trendy tv show seems good now, but in 10 years time no one will be bothered by the show anymore and those names will seem tacky and cringey and dated. Seriously.

BethanyGilbert · 27/05/2019 08:07

I haven’t read PPs but how about Yara? More subtle and isn’t a made up name either.

violetbunny · 27/05/2019 08:53

Drogon Grin

MaidenMotherCrone · 27/05/2019 09:24

But a girl has no name Op!

GraceMarks · 27/05/2019 09:40

OP hasn't been back since the first day on this thread, and then it was to make the entirely ridiculous point that she didn't like Brienne as a character. Safe to assume that only a troll would say something like that!

Lost5stone · 27/05/2019 09:54

I think Lyanna is alright, absolutely none of the others.

TinselAngel · 27/05/2019 10:12

Nobody who has watched Game of Thrones could be "not keen" on the character of Brienne. Hmm

cooksomeeggs · 27/05/2019 10:20

2nd for ygritte.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 27/05/2019 11:30

Sounds like the french letter Y sounded out to me.

TinselAngel · 27/05/2019 11:32

That confused me Fekko, I thought you were talking about condoms.

JaneGlorianaVillanueva · 27/05/2019 11:44

If you're really sure you want a name from the series then I think out of your options I'd go for Lyanna, second choice being Olenna.

2 reasons: they're probably the ones with the least ties to GOT (compared to say Khaleesi) and the characters were good.

Names like khaleesi and Melisandre are very mean to give a child as they're weird. Also khaleesi is a title not a name, everyone takes the piss out of eg the Kardashians and beyonce for giving their kids names such as Saint and Sir, but it's no different to calling one Khaleesi.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 27/05/2019 12:04

Noooo - when you spell out the alphabet on french (like in English - ay, bee, see, Dee, etc). I’m sure in french the Y is ee/greet.

BlackPrism · 27/05/2019 14:11

Sansa or Lyanna.

What about Margeary?

MyOtherProfile · 27/05/2019 17:27

I’m sure in french the Y is ee/greet

It's ee/grec

BumandChips · 27/05/2019 17:33

If you’re going to change your story every five minutes at least name change! 🙄

But anyway, why would anyone do this? Poor kid, everyone would know you were named after some TV programme. It would date massively.

StormcloakNord · 27/05/2019 17:39

I think you should go with Shaggydog.

Original, and a fearsome character right until the very end.

Cremeegglove · 27/05/2019 17:46

Wow op, twins in January and twins in July Shock that's phenomenal!!

IntoValhalla · 27/05/2019 17:46

Game of thrones inspired names
BumandChips · 27/05/2019 17:48

It’s as stupid as naming your child after the Twilight baby.

UCOinanOCG · 27/05/2019 17:49

Blimey this OP has a very short gestation period. She is dropping babies like bunnies.

TinselAngel · 27/05/2019 17:50

Maybe triplets next- Drogon, Rhaegel and Visereon?

ForTheSakeOfTheFox · 27/05/2019 19:28

@StormcloakNord - I think you should go with Shaggydog.

Urgh! I hate this trend for giving traditionally male names to girls. What's wrong with Nymeria? Classic yet strong, IMO Grin

FunInTheSun2019 · 27/05/2019 19:45

OP in January you posted you were having twin girls in March? And now you're having another girl in July? This ones a very short pregnancy to say the least??

Troll

Ember12 · 27/05/2019 19:55

Maybe a lesser known character
Lysa
Talisa
Roslin
Violet

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 28/05/2019 02:25

OP is making medical history!

Tip OP- to be a good lier, you need a good memory........
