Laura or Gemma?

We are expecting DC2 shortly and two of the girl names we are considering are:

Laura
Gemma

Which do you prefer? DC1 is a boy and has a very traditional boys name (5 letters), so we want a nice short traditional girl's name to go with his name.

I'm leaning towards Laura, but my OH prefers Gemma. Any comments on either name would be appreciated.

Laura is in my top ten girls names at present.

I don't like Gemma at all.

They’re both a bit 80s/90s to me!
Not keen on either at all but at a push, I’d say Laura is the best

Laura, I don't like the G in Gemma.

Gemma will also result in the question every time of "how do you spell it!? With a J or G?"

Both names of horrible girls who bullied me throughout school and even into my 20s I’m only 27 now. But Laura was the worst. So I’d say Gemma

I hate the name Laura there is quite a few about and Gemma is a proper 80s name, two of my cousins are called it lol.

Laura is a timeless classic, I think - Laura Ashley, Laura Ingalls, etc.
Gemma is dated, I think.

Not keen on Gemma, but I do love Jemima.
