Hi all,

I’m keen give find unisex names. I’ve chosen Robin for if I have a girl but went to find a unisex name for if I have a boy.
Any suggestions?

Robin was originally a boys name & I love it for boys - maybe it’s the perfect name for either? I think girls usually spell it Robyn

AuntMarch · 19/05/2019 20:24

Isn't the whole point of a unisex name that it can be for either?

FatChloe · 19/05/2019 20:25

Sam?

Lenny1980 · 19/05/2019 20:27

Yep, it can be for either so not sure why you need different names.

Ashley
Taylor
Morgan
Casey

None are my taste but I would say they are unisex.

Other names like Blake and Elliot are names originally given to boys but you hear now for girls and boys.

Do you see the irony in your post op?

Alex or Jamie

Your post is not logical Grin

TrixieFranklin · 19/05/2019 20:41

Is this a joke? If you want a unisex name then you choose one. Not one for a girl and different one for a boy Grin

MrsDarcy4092 · 19/05/2019 20:41

I think people can chose unisex names for a number of different reasons. Because a name is unisex doesn’t mean you can’t have preferences. I like Robin for a girl but not for a boy. Which is just a preference.

It's spelled Robyn for a girl and Robin for a boy. Ignoring that is like calling a female Jo Joe. She'll spend her whole life correcting people who will in turn wonder why you chose to misspell your daughter's name.

Not sure that’s completely true - Robin as a boy’s name is the original & it is now used for girls too, usually as Robyn but there are still a number of girls every year as Robin

JessicaKenny2018 · 19/05/2019 21:00

Ronnie love this name for either gender

MrsDarcy4092 · 19/05/2019 23:34

If people spend any time wondering why a parent chose to spell their child’s name “wrong” I think that says more about them than anything else. Let’s hope I have nothing else to worry about in life other than people wondering why Robin doesn’t have a y

Robin for a boy
Robyn for a girl

It would be very unkind to use the wrong spelling.

Unisex names are less obvious in boys and lots sound the same but have different spelling to hint at the gender.

Can’t think of any boys I know with a name that would work on a girl 🤔
