Seren

We're not Welsh (DP has a Welsh grandfather though), but I really like it.

What do you others think of Seren as a name? We have a DS (Jude) already...do they go nicely together?

I love it. Beautiful and classic.

woodcutbirds · 16/05/2019 16:09

I absolutely LOVE that name. It looks and sounds beautiful and has a lovely meaning. Goes really well with Jude. A Welsh grandfather is enough of an excuse to use it. Grin

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 16/05/2019 16:10

Beautiful

supersalmon1 · 16/05/2019 16:10

Thank you both for your replies! I love the name Jude so much and Seren is really the only girl's name that gives me 'that' feeling too.

I absolutely love it, it has the most beautiful sound. Luckily little one having that name!

LuluBellaBlue · 16/05/2019 16:14

I’d never heard of it before but really like it (add to my own name list.....)

SnappedandFartedagain · 16/05/2019 16:14

Absolutely love it.

ApocalypseNowt · 16/05/2019 16:14

I like it but have a feeling that Seren is the new Isla...

rainbowstardrops · 16/05/2019 16:15

I love it and I love Jude too! Definitely go for it!

ladyvimes · 16/05/2019 16:15

I love it (was on our list) but find English speakers pronounce it wrong and it grates on me!

WhiskersPete · 16/05/2019 16:15

It's beautiful

daisypond · 16/05/2019 16:15

It’s nice but I do prefer Serena - not the meaning though. And people probably won’t pronounce it correctly if you’re not in Wales. It’s one of those names that is quite fashionable at the moment.

HoHoHolyCow · 16/05/2019 16:15

Love it. Almost want to try for another baby, on the off chance it's a girl, so I can use it! 😁

Quintella · 16/05/2019 16:16

It's nice enough. Not sure I'd describe it as classic though like a pp.

Quintella · 16/05/2019 16:16

Definitely the new Isla.

WhiskersPete · 16/05/2019 16:17

How should it be pronounced? I would say Se-ran but I'm English

supersalmon1 · 16/05/2019 16:18

Thank you for all the (really quick!) replies. I think because her surname will have an 'er' ending it's difficult to get some names that 'fit.

Interesting point about Isla...and the English pronunciation! Thank you.

I like it but have a feeling that Seren is the new Isla...

I've worked in a primary school - both infant and junior - for nearly ten years and I've never come across a Seren yet. Don't think I've even come across a Jude yet either to be honest.
Maybe it's a regional thing but I am by no means in a rural area.

Lilsquish · 16/05/2019 16:19

love it. it was on my list and id def consider it again if im lucky enough to have a third DD. x

Isntthatalwaystheway · 16/05/2019 16:19

I've never we heard it before but absolutely love it! How is it pronounced? Ser - ren or ser - reen?

Isntthatalwaystheway · 16/05/2019 16:20

No idea where the *we came from there 😳

stayathomer · 16/05/2019 16:20

Gorgeous!!

tillytoodles1 · 16/05/2019 16:22

I know quite a few girls called Seren, but I do live in Wales. It's a beautiful name, it means star.

BigusBumus · 16/05/2019 16:23

I have always assumed it was short for Serendipity? Am i wrong? I didn't know it was Welsh! How is it pronounced?

ApocalypseNowt · 16/05/2019 16:26

rainbowstardops happy to be proved wrong but I know a few already!
