Just found this name on a site that means God has answered/ray of light. I actually really like it and thought could nickname Elle/Ellie?

Would love all your thoughts as so helpful x

Popular currently in the jewish community. I like it.

PetrichorRain · 15/05/2019 06:55

I love it, really.

We are calling our daughter Eliana! We love it as its so musical and elegant sounding. It’s slightly more unusual too, without being outlandish or cumbersome sounding.
We were stuck on Ellie for a while (nothing seems to go with our surname) but I don’t like cutesy nicknamey names as a child’s given name. So we are going with Eliana, to be known as Ellie by DSD, who now cannot suffer her sister to be called anything else! Grin

Lovely

Still18atheart · 15/05/2019 07:17

I really like it

pilates · 15/05/2019 07:20

I like it

Maybebaybe · 15/05/2019 07:21

I hate it. Sorry OP. The only ones I have known have spelled it Ellieanna which is like they couldn't choose between Ellie and Anna so went for both. Spelled as you have it is much nicer but the Ellieanna's have ruined it for me. Also Ellie (Ella too) is really popular where I live, from the 17 year old all the way down there seem to be some in every class.

MsTSwift · 15/05/2019 07:22

Awful sorry. And she will be yet another Ellie Ella of which there are hundreds

CIT80 · 15/05/2019 07:26

I like it , just to add to the pot Ileana which is also very pretty

MummyBear2352 · 15/05/2019 07:52

I've heard of a few Eliana's. Nothing wrong with it 😊 if you like it, go for it. (But personally, I wouldn't shorten it.)

CherryPavlova · 15/05/2019 07:57

It sounds Eastern European to me but is quite pretty. I’m not a huge fan of Elle or Ella though.

Rtmhwales · 15/05/2019 07:58

This is my new niece's name in California. I thought it was a made up name. It's pretty enough but not really my cup of tea.

SundayMorningSun · 15/05/2019 08:30

I like it. I know a lovely Italian woman (aged about 35) called Eliana.

Not a made-up name at all! It's an Italian version of the Roman name Aeliana (lots of Italians have Roman names). I think there's a St Aeliana.

TurquoiseAndPurple · 15/05/2019 08:57

I know a 6 year old Eliana who doesn't get called Ella or Ellie ever.

Proseccofuelled · 15/05/2019 09:19

Not heard it before but it sounds lovely & I say that as someone who only tends to like quite ‘boring’ names.

There is also Iliana which I think is lovely & more distinct from the millions of Ellie/Ella/Evie etc etc

POP7777777 · 15/05/2019 09:20

A very pretty name.

Bayleyf · 15/05/2019 11:33

I love it.

I know two, one pronounced Ellie-Anna and one Ellie-Aarna.

Ces6 · 15/05/2019 11:36

I know a lovely Italian Eliana too.

RuthW · 15/05/2019 20:09

I love any 'arna' names

SallyWD · 15/05/2019 20:53

Very pretty

FaffyFaffington · 15/05/2019 20:55

I also know an Italian (adult) Eliana. Lovely name.

Proseccofuelled · 15/05/2019 23:21

Juliana is another pretty one

Astronica · 16/05/2019 08:06

I've come across a few little Elianas. As it's in the Bible it seems to be currently popular among Christian families. It fits with the popular 'El' sounding names and 'ana' endings eg Ariana. Not my style as I'm not so keen on frilly names, but nothing wrong with it.

daisypond · 16/05/2019 08:51

It’s not a name in the Bible, though. There’s no such person. It’s OK as a name, pretty but too bland for my tastes.

Proseccofuelled · 16/05/2019 09:53

No Eliana in the Bible you might be thinking Eli ?
