Middle names for Kaelyn?

liajayne · 09/05/2019 19:40

So basically I want a name for a girl that isn't common, however I don't mind if the middle name is slightly more common (but not super common). I have fallen in love with the name Kaelyn (Kay-Lin - almost like Caitlin without the t) but I'm stuck for a middle name!

I've come up with:

  • Kaelyn Paige
  • Kaelyn Jade

But I haven't fallen in love with these like I have for the first name, so does anyone have any other suggestions? My surname is Robinson so obviously I need something that flows nicely with that - I'm not too fussy about the length as long as it doesn't take 10 minutes to pronounce Wink .

Yes, morphine would be the best.

liajayne · 09/05/2019 20:50

morphine was my immediate thought too! diaorrhea medicine!

If it was spelt Cailyn would you still think that?

I like the way the name sounds, but could you go for a bit more of a nod to the Irish version with the spelling?

Caolinn?

Or just Kaylen?

The combination of the K and random vowel combination is pretty youneeq.

Kaylen Rihanna

Aimily · 09/05/2019 20:53

My cousin is Kaelyn Ivy, I think it's a beautiful combination if that helps?

PinaColadaPlease · 09/05/2019 20:54

Morphine was my first thought as well.

It looks much better with a C regardless.

It’s not unique or uncommon it’s just a weird spelling of a very normal name that she’ll spend her name spelling out.

Many of the suggested middle names are less common.

WomanInTheWindow · 09/05/2019 21:05

As someone who works in child care - over the years we have come to see K initial names with that sort of spelling associated with being chavvy, or an invented spelling by several. We had a student with a similar name who was forever correcting the kai or kay pronunciation. Maybe look at the spelling.

It did also remind me of the medicine!

Shadow1234 · 09/05/2019 21:07

I think it's a lovely name.

Kaelyn Brooke
Kaelyn Rai
Kaelyn Faye
Kaelyn leigh

tabbiemoo · 09/05/2019 21:23

Sorry the K spelling looks very chavvy to me.
Particularly if then the middle name is Jade or Paige. Grace, Mae, Marie or Rose are also quite chavvy sounding middle names (although they are individually nice names they are so over used as middle names).
Cailyn is definitely better than Kaelyn.
Middle name suggestions I like are
Cailyn Jessica
Cailyn Ivy
Cailyn Adeline
Cailyn Florence
Cailyn Isabelle
Cailyn Charlotte (possible nickname CC?)

I assure you no one is going to ‘pull faces’ at an Irish name — or if they do, they have more issues than spelling — and they’re going to have to ask how to spell ‘Kaelyn’, anyway.

Sophronia · 09/05/2019 21:36

Cailin looks much better.

DramaAlpaca · 09/05/2019 21:43

I've only heard the 'names beginning with K are chavvy' thing on MN. I bloody hate seeing names described as 'chavvy', it's such a horrible word. Ignore all those snobby comments, OP. If you like the name that's all that matters.

PinkieTuscadero · 09/05/2019 21:45

All they've got is their K hatred to hang on to, now that Prince Archie Harrison walks among us Grin

MindyStClaire · 09/05/2019 21:52

Grin Pinkie

Also - Caoilfhionn is pronounced Kee-lin or Quee-lin, not kay-lin.

liajayne · 09/05/2019 22:05

I've decided to keep K at the start of the name - tough sh*t if you think its 'chavvy' or related to a medicine! Based on how to spell it I'm undecided whether to use Kaelyn or Kailyn - however either way she'll have to keep telling people to spell it as they're as so many variations! My name is a very popular name (Amelia) and I still have to spell it to people - I think it is the case with many names now.

Also - Caoilfhionn is pronounced Kee-lin or Quee-lin, not kay-lin.

I was trying to work out how that was pronounced...

OP posts:
DramaAlpaca · 09/05/2019 22:06

Indeed Pinkie Grin

And Mindy is correct about the pronunciation of Caoilfhionn.

DramaAlpaca · 09/05/2019 22:07

Good for you, OP.

Rangeloaf · 09/05/2019 22:16

It’s really not great. An invented oddly spelt name beginning with K which is associated with serious illness

ClaraMatilda · 09/05/2019 22:19

Kay Lynn?

Blueuggboots · 09/05/2019 22:21

@Pinkarsedfly first thing I thought of too!!! 😂😂😂😂

liajayne · 09/05/2019 22:22

An invented oddly spelt name beginning with K which is associated with serious illness

Except it doesn't have to be associated with a illness does it? Considering they're different spellings... And what actually is the issue with a name begging with K? It's pronounced exactly they same - and if you say it phonetically it actually makes more sense to be spelt with a K... Would you lot rather I named my child Apple or ABCDE? 🤔 Since they seem to been 'suitable' names according to some people.

If you're going to post about a name choice on here OP you're going to get opinions. You will not like all of the opinions 🤷🏻‍♀️

Caitlin is much nicer IMO.

VeganSteve · 09/05/2019 22:27

I also thought morphine... sorry op Confused
