This may be the hormones but I've just seen this on another thread and I think it's fab! I love the NN Bert or Bertie so always wanted a '__bert' name but don't like any of the others (Robert, Herbert etc). Gilby is also an adorable potential nickname. Thoughts? Hormones or good idea?

First thought Blythe

hewontstopshitting · 07/05/2019 15:48

I like bert, Bertie but I just cant stand Gilbert. What about Albert?

Whoops75 · 07/05/2019 15:48

Not a fan, Prefer Robert and Bert as a nn

littlecabbage · 07/05/2019 15:48

I like it, but then I have a Bertie (Albert).

rosydreams · 07/05/2019 15:50

i prefer albert for bertie

PlatypusLeague · 07/05/2019 15:52

I don't like it, sorry.

Icklepup · 07/05/2019 15:54

I don't like it either

journeysendwhenloversmeet · 07/05/2019 15:55

I like it. I like Gilly as a NN.

FairfaxAikman · 07/05/2019 15:56

I like it. A family member is Gilbert, MN Gib.

FairfaxAikman · 07/05/2019 15:56

*nn

Still18atheart · 07/05/2019 15:57

Meh I like nm Gilly and bert , Bertie etc

NowWeAreSuckingDiesel · 07/05/2019 15:59

Just name them Bertie. If that's what you'll call them and they'll be known as. Or just Bert, nn Bertie?

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 07/05/2019 16:01

awful, really don't like it at all.

Disfordarkchocolate · 07/05/2019 16:03

I thought Gil or Gilly was the nickname for Gilbert?

Aquamarine1029 · 07/05/2019 16:07

What about Bertrand?

JenSFP · 07/05/2019 16:07

I've got an Albert, who we call Bert or Bertie - it varies! I absolutely love it Smile

JenSFP · 07/05/2019 16:07

I've heard of Bertram as an alternative although I've never been that keen

Flamingosnbears · 07/05/2019 16:10

Gilbert is not a bad choice OP less popular than say Albert.

BibbleBobbleBabble · 07/05/2019 16:10

As in, Blythe?? 😍😍

AnneLovesGilbert · 07/05/2019 16:11

Go for it Grin

User10fuckingmillion · 07/05/2019 16:11

I like it but I think only because I fancied Gilbert Blythe as a kid.

Quintella · 07/05/2019 16:12

God knows I've loved Gilbert Blythe since I was 7 years old, but I've never loved his name. If I'd married him I'd have referred to him as Dr Blythe. Gil during intimate moments Grin

Actually Gil is kind of cool, Gil Scott Heron. Much better than Bertie. Nothin' cool about Bertie.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 07/05/2019 16:13

It's the name of the street i used to live on, named after of the city's councillors. For that reason the associations with me are a bit pompous stuffed shirt. I suspect it's one of those marmite names like Norman or Enid.

Pegaroo · 07/05/2019 18:57

I wanted Gilbert to use Gil as a nm. Then someone showed me the Gilbert sketch from the morgana show and it put me off...take a look before you commit!
