It's quite a long list at the moment so I would be interested in opinions and what people think of them...might help us to whittle them down a bit more!

Isobel
Emily
Imogen
Camilla
Vivienne
Chloe
Rosalyn (nn Rosa)
Catriona

Isobel - prefer Isabel.
Emily - boring.
Imogen - ok
Camilla - too old fashioned.
Vivienne - Viv. It’s a no from me.
Chloe - too common.
Rosalyn (nn Rosa) - prefer Rosie as a nickname. Not keen on Rosalyn, prefer Rose.
Catriona- Catty. Don’t like this at all.

To be honest they all sound like middle aged Librarian names

Mintypea5 · 07/05/2019 12:41

Isobel - really pretty. I prefer the spelling
Emily - a bit meh but still nice
Imogen - love it! It's our top choice
Camilla - not a fan
Vivienne - makes me think pretty woman
Chloe - i think it's cute
Rosalyn (nn Rosa) - really pretty
Catriona - not heard this one before. What about Catrin or Caitlin?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 07/05/2019 12:44

I only like Emily. Vivienne Rosa and Chloe.
Isobel is okay, but I much prefer Isabelle. I can't abide the Isobel spelling. Crazy I know as it has no change or influence on the sound.
Catriona is awful. Why not Catrina.

Flamingosnbears · 07/05/2019 12:47

Isobel#5
Emily#4
Imogen#3
Camilla#2
Vivienne#6
Chloe#7
Rosalyn (nn Rosa)#1
Catriona#8

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 07/05/2019 12:48

Isobel- very popular
Emily - a bit blah
Imogen - like but very overused
Camilla -bit posh/ frumpy
Vivienne - love
Chloe - love, traditional without being old fashioned and not that popular
Rosalyn (nn Rosa)- forgettable
Catriona- bit of a mouthful

BlueMerchant · 07/05/2019 12:50

Camilla is my favourite.
Like Vivienne but hate the inevitable Viv
I like Isabel but not Isobel
Rosalyn is nice
Imogen is nice
Emily is common
Chloe is dated
Catrionia is a big 'NO'. Sounds like foreign lager.

wheresmymojo · 07/05/2019 12:50

Catriona is the traditional spelling of Catrina/Katrina (I didn't realise anyone spelt it any other way before this thread).

I'd definitely be sticking with Isobel (rather than Isabel(le) as it's an old family name.

Interesting thoughts so far though!

Vivienne we nn Vivi which might even end up being shortened to Vee.

I can't stop people using Viv when she's older but I did think if she ended up with a bit of an edgier style Viv could end up being quite good (I could imagine an Amy Winehouse type suiting Viv!)

They are all nice although as PP have said, Camilla is a bit dated. I love Camille though. Wanted to call DD2 that but was told by DH that it was too similar to DD1's name (Milla). They are all lovely :) Congrats on your baby! :)

MsJuniper · 07/05/2019 12:58

Really surprised people don't know the spelling of Catriona.

Isobel - like the spelling but very popular name
Emily - nice
Imogen - lovely
Camilla - don't like
Vivienne - don't like but better than Camilla
Chloe - quite 80s but nice
Rosalyn (nn Rosa) - prefer Rosalind
Catriona - like this

DianaBlythe · 07/05/2019 12:59

Catriona is pronounced Catrina. Lovely Scottish name and the nicest spelling! From the responses sounds like possibly initially problematic in England though but would think people could get their heads round it quite quickly!

wheresmymojo · 07/05/2019 13:02

I did think Chloe might be a bit dated which has been confirmed here.

...and everyone is on DH's side about dropping Camilla Grin

I like Camilla. My DP vetoed it when I was pregnant, II think because of the Camilla PB, but in my head I think of Gonzo's chicken first.

Emily and Isobel are lovely, hence why there are millions of them.

I like Vivienne, it will come back I'm sure and be trendy.

So I think if you are quite a trendy hip type of family, Vivienne. Camilla if you are more trad.

BibbleBobbleBabble · 07/05/2019 13:06

Isobel - prefer the other spelling
Emily - lovely
Imogen - my least favourite girls name ever
Camilla - I like it, but prefer Camille
Vivienne - lovely
Chloe - nice enough
Rosalyn (nn Rosa) - full name is a bit old lady but nn is adorable
Catriona - dislike

EvilDog · 07/05/2019 13:51

Chloe is nice, I know of a few teens but no babies called this. Also like Cleo.

The only one I dislike from your list is Rosalyn as it reminds me of the character from Monsters, Inc (that I had to watch every day for about 4 years, thanks dd 😩)

tisonlymeagain · 07/05/2019 14:33

If you go with Catriona, you will get Cat-ree-ona constantly, that would drive me mental. Incidentally, I had a friend at school, who pronounced it like that.

I love Camilla, beautiful name.

Icklepup · 07/05/2019 15:31

I like Chloe! And Emily

Complainingagain · 07/05/2019 15:40

Isobel - lovely sound but so popular. Prefer other spelling too
Emily - dull
Imogen - quite nice
Camilla - nice
Vivienne - sassy and cool. Love Vivi as a nickname
Chloe - dated but nice sound
Rosalyn (nn Rosa) - love Rosa, hate Rosalyn (it's the lyn sound I don't like)
Catriona - really don't like it

PlatypusLeague · 07/05/2019 15:58

Isobel - like, also Isabella
Emily - like, also Emilia
Imogen - not very keen
Camilla - quite like
Vivienne - harsh
Chloe - OK
Rosalyn - like
Catriona - OK, prefer Carina

laylabellex · 07/05/2019 16:02

I loved Isobel but the popularity put me off! I really like Camilla and Rosalyn

Greencustard · 07/05/2019 17:03

I like Chloe and Catriona.

FannyFeatures · 07/05/2019 17:09

I like Rosalyn, Imogen and Emily.

I really dislike Isobel, Camilla and Vivienne.

Chloe and Catriona are ok but dated imo.

Happyandglorious · 07/05/2019 17:11

Love Camilla and Isobel

Cannyhandleit · 07/05/2019 17:31

Actually amazed at how many people don't know the name Catriona. I am in Scotland so fairly common, I went to school with quite a few and I don't recall there ever being an issue with pronunciation.

I like Vivian not overly keen on the rest.

UrsulaPandress · 07/05/2019 17:33

Rosalind.
