It's quite a long list at the moment so I would be interested in opinions and what people think of them...might help us to whittle them down a bit more!

Isobel
Emily
Imogen
Camilla
Vivienne
Chloe
Rosalyn (nn Rosa)
Catriona

Imogen is the only one I really like.

pipsqueakthethird · 07/05/2019 20:02

Vivienne is the only sensible choice of these! It is beautiful and classic, interesting and not too popular, with decent shortening options.

All the others are dull (Emily), overused (Imogen, please no more Isobel/Isabelles!!), and/or just not that nice (catriona, Rosalyn ). Camilla and Chloe are ok but not in the same league as Vivienne.

JenSFP · 07/05/2019 20:35

Rosalyn / Rosa is lovely

JenSFP · 07/05/2019 20:36

Not at all keen on Camilla or Catriona I'm afraid.

milienhaus · 07/05/2019 20:38

Like them all! I am one of your list and one of my sisters is another, our last sister is Flora if you wanted to add any more!

Whoops75 · 07/05/2019 20:41

Isobel - prefer Isabelle
Emily - never liked this
Imogen - bit posh
Camilla - no
Vivienne - love this
Chloe - no
Rosalyn (nn Rosa) - nice
Catriona - prefer Katrina

Calixtine · 07/05/2019 20:42

I like Vivienne and Imogen best. Catriona looks beautiful but I dislike the sound of “Katrina”.

Calixtine · 07/05/2019 20:42

I love just Rosa too, but dislike -lyn names.

aibutohavethisusername · 07/05/2019 21:37

Isobel - yes
Emily - no
Imogen - yes
Camilla - no
Vivienne - maybe
Chloe - maybe
Rosalyn (nn Rosa) - yes
Catriona - no

hewontstopshitting · 07/05/2019 21:38

I only like Isobel, but spelt Isabel

Bentley111 · 07/05/2019 21:52

Have just done your boys thread 😬

Isobel - yes, love
Emily - nice but bland
Imogen - not a fan at all
Camilla - with your DH, love this, especially shortened to Millie
Vivienne - my favourite on your list
Chloe - inoffensive
Rosalyn (nn Rosa) - prefer just Rosa
Catriona - not keen, prefer Catherine

LadyWithLapdog · 07/05/2019 21:53

I like all apart from Camilla.

whatwouldbigfatfannydo · 07/05/2019 22:06

Catriona (cat-ree-oh-na) is a Gaelic name meaning 'pure'. I much prefer that to the other pronunciations. Surely if you want ca-tree-na then just go for Catrina/Katrina!!? I don't know of anyone who uses the 2nd pronunciation for the OP's spelling!

Vivienne is nice but there are other 'V' names that I think sound better.
Valentina, Violet etc.

OP, you'll have picked these names for a reason. Go with your gut!

Congrats on your little one Flowers

MercyBodle · 08/05/2019 00:36

My favourites are Catriona (love this spelling and sounds fresh to me among all the other very popular names like Chloe), Camilla (stylish and not over-used) and Imogen (popular but gorgeous). Catriona and Camilla feel to me like smart names that could take you anywhere but also stand out from the crowd of popular names without being flashy.

I'm not keen on Rosalyn as it seems fussy - I prefer just Rose , and Chloe which feels over-used. Isobel (love this spelling) and Emily are good and solid, just feel a bit over-used now. Vivienne just doesn't appeal strongly to me, but okay.

Whatwillhappentomorrow · 08/05/2019 06:26

Isobel -so so popular, your child would probably end up being known by their last name. This would put me off it is so overdone. If I really needed to use it I would put it as a middle name.

Emily- lovely, classic but not a name that I would hear and think wow that is such a lovely name they have chosen

Imogen- pretty - I like it as a middle name

Camilla- quite like although the royal family springs to mind. I'm sure this would soon be put to the back of people's minds when they got to know your daughter though.

Vivienne- this is lovely.

Chloe- lovely but over done about 5-10 years ago. Still a nice name.

Rosalyn (nn Rosa) - OK.

Catriona - don't mind

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 08/05/2019 06:43

Chloe, Isobel and Emily are all over used and safe. I prefer Imogen the most. The rest I’m not that keen on sorry.

Nocturnalpearl · 08/05/2019 07:29

Vivienne and Camille are beautiful, elegant names. What about Rosalie?

Bumblebeesmum · 08/05/2019 09:37

Lovely list
Not keen on Vivienne but it’s ok

starkid · 08/05/2019 16:37

I like Isobel and that spelling, and Imogen is quite nice too

Gobletoffire · 08/05/2019 17:34

Isobel - nice
Emily - classic and lovely
Imogen - my favourite
Camilla - no, too dated
Vivienne - ok
Chloe - not keen, a bit 90s for me
Rosalyn (nn Rosa) - prefer just Rosa or Rose
Catriona - not keen

oohbubbles1 · 08/05/2019 17:59

Isobel- imho I don't love it, much prefer Isabel/le (but Isabella is better than both)
Emily- nice, a bit 'safe'
Imogen- no. just no. I've never liked this name, sounds like a medicine to me for some reason?
Camilla- nice, v pretty
Vivienne- nice, I like the old fashioned feel
Chloe- nice, v pretty
Rosalyn- pretty, prefer Rose or Rosalie
Catriona- never heard but I really like
my favourite is Camilla, Vivienne or Chloe. all the others are okay (apart from Imogen). remember its your opinion that counts the most though, good luck! x
