Hi everyone! This is my first post ever on mumsnet! Smile

I’m 26 weeks pregnant with baby boy no3. I have a George & an Edward (nn Eddie/Ted) & a husband called Henry.

We love traditional names but as you can see we seem to be following a pattern of royals which was never our intention Grin

So... my favourite name is Hugh. Hubby doesn’t really like it but says I can have it. Most of my friends go quiet when I suggest the name too! Could I pls have honest opinions & alternatives.

Names we can’t use: Charlie, Alex, Oliver, William, Arthur.

Thanks xxx

Huey is quite cute. Not too sure about Hugh...but if you like it, go for it.

Tillygetsit · 29/04/2019 22:58

My hubby loves Benjamin. It’s definitely in my top 3 but I like it, don’t love it! Love the other suggestions. Thanks x

I think Hugo is sweet but sounds posh whereas others say that about Hugh. What is it about Hugh that people don’t like. I LOVE it! But I get that not many do. Pls be honest

Hugh sounds more like a grown ups name to me. Whereas Hugo suits baby to adult. IYKWIM.

Theodore nn. Theo

I think you should go for Hugo though. It’s cute for a baby but works for an adult.

Love your DS' names!

I agree with PP that Ralph is also lovely.

What about Toby
Thomas
Samuel
Oliver
Max
Victor
Louis

Wilfred nn Fred?

I know what you mean about Hugh. It's nice but...there's something lacking

pearldeodorant · 29/04/2019 23:54

Sorry I forgot you can't have Oliver!

NicksWife08 · 30/04/2019 00:07

Joseph.

Just to add, I have a Hugo and he has recently on his own decision started telling people they can call him Hugh if they want. A few of his friends have gone with this and now call him Hugh.
Hugo is the Germanic version of Hugh, so although Hugh isn't short for Hugo they are pretty much the same name.

Greeborising · 30/04/2019 00:24

Just say Hugh out loud, it makes your mouth do funny things
