How common is Millie where you are?

I think we've finally chosen a name but it'll probably get shortened to Millie for day-to-day. I am slighty put off with how popular Millie is (according to ONS 2017). But in reality, how popular is it around you?

I haven't heard it at all for under 5s. I'm in the SE.

Love the name Millie. It would be on my list for dc2 but our cats called Millie (we adopted her and she already had the name). Would be too confusing to have two!!

VoyageInTheDark · 17/04/2019 09:17

I know one toddler Millie. I'm east midlands

SE only one in the last 15 years and her name was actually Romilly

Applesbananaspears · 17/04/2019 09:27

I know 2. One is 9 and one is 16. Neither have a longer name

Zoeputthatdown · 17/04/2019 09:29

One who's at primary school.

Sessy19 · 17/04/2019 09:35

@Judas, what a shame the kid shortens her beautiful name to something so insipid!

I know of a couple or more Millie’s, they are older though, 10-15. Also quite popular as a dogs name here in the South.

LadyPenelope68 · 17/04/2019 09:36

I'm a Primary School teacher and we have just one Millie in the whole school and in the 10 years I've been there, no other Millie.

BarefootHippieChick · 17/04/2019 09:48

It's quite common amongst 10-12 year olds here in the Midlands

You must be near me 😁 I also know a couple of teens with the name too

Ariela · 17/04/2019 10:23

It was very popular around 18/20 years ago, think Millenium. So I personally know several of daughter's sort of age, but none younger.

LittleMissMummaBear · 17/04/2019 11:52

I only knew one Millie, a teenager, but she moved away where I live. I personally know none, but I’ve heard (friends of friends) about two where I live. lovely name! x

lordofthefries · 17/04/2019 11:55

In the Midlands here too, it’s really common in teenagers and I only know one little Millie, but she spells it Millee and is 8

Starlight39 · 17/04/2019 12:11

I'm SE too. I know of a 7 year old and 2 x 8 year old Millie's (one of the 8 year olds is up north though!). I think it's a lovely name and not too popular.

daisypond · 17/04/2019 12:17

I only know Millies in their very late teens, early 20s. It's very much a late '90s name to me.

RandomUsernameHere · 17/04/2019 12:26

We know one Camilla who is 4. Can't think of any others that are younger than 30.

JimJamJarmusch · 17/04/2019 12:35

I know two, both three years old.

MaybeitsMaybelline · 17/04/2019 12:36

I know three between the ages of 21 & 22 but no others.

contrary13 · 17/04/2019 12:52

Also in the SE, with a 3 year old niece called Millie. Not short for anything. Just Millie.

HareandTortoise · 17/04/2019 13:00

One, 11 months old. Amelia but mostly called Millie.

GinasGirl · 17/04/2019 13:19

I know quite a few dogs called Millie, a Camilla called Millie, a few Amelia's nn Millie and a Millicent nn Millie, also in SE.

hopelesslyromantic93 · 17/04/2019 14:09

My border terrier is a millie! Blush but I only know one other millie who is actually an Amelia. I'm in the NE

churchthecat · 17/04/2019 14:13

I know 2 dogs and a tortoise called Milly!

Readytogogogo · 17/04/2019 14:15

Midlands. Several baby/ toddler Millies. But I don't personally think it's an issue to pick a popular name.

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 17/04/2019 14:15

I can think of 5 we know who are 10/11. I also know one aged 6.

WorriedFTM1 · 17/04/2019 21:08

North West
I've met one so far. She's about 3 months old.
