Or maybe Trixie? DH prefers Trixie. But I can’t get Sallie out of my head!

OP posts:

countchuckula · 09/04/2019 09:03

I like Sallie.

The virtue names like Patience can be pretty, but I would worry that if the child grows up to be impatient, it might be a bit weird iyswim Smile

SallyWD · 09/04/2019 09:24

I like Sally spelt that this. I'm not keen on Trixie.

CarmineStarman · 09/04/2019 09:26

Sally is very nice and not used enough in my opinion. I'd stick with the -y spelling but -ie works as well.

BlueMerchant · 09/04/2019 09:29

Like Sallie but only spelt Sally.
Trixie reminds me of a small dog.
Patience- no.

IwantedtobeEmmaPeel · 09/04/2019 09:29

I like Sally with the 'y' ending and also like Patience very much.

Trixie sounds like a dog's name - sorry.

Veterinari · 09/04/2019 09:32

Sally, spelled properly.

Bacciferous · 09/04/2019 09:34

My name is a variation of a very common name and I am honestly sick of spelling it for people over and over again. Worse things in life I know! Anyway, Sally has my vote. AND Patience? Lovely name but what if she has none? She'd look like a right dick

MadameJosephine · 09/04/2019 09:36

I love them both but probably prefer Patience as it’s a more ‘grown up’ band if that makes sense. Also love Constance and Sadie

I also like Trixie but prefer Beatrix with Trixie as a nick name

Sorry that didn’t help much did it

PippilottaLongstocking · 09/04/2019 09:36

I love Sally
I adore virtue names but they’re a lot to live up to! I went to school with a ‘Blessing’ which I thought was beautiful

MercyBodle · 09/04/2019 10:10

I like Patience best, and with nns Patty and Patsy. I like Trixie as a nn for Beatrix. Sally feels insubstantial to me.

MyKingdomForBrie · 09/04/2019 10:12

I love Sally. Sallie looks ugly to me.

Disfordarkchocolate · 09/04/2019 10:14

I love Sally.

I love Patience but worry that you give a child something to live up to with names like these. Blessing or Precious are similar but less to live up to.

BelulahBlanca · 09/04/2019 10:17

I like Sally with a Y but I think Paitence sounds quite old fashioned. Trixie is cute but not an adults name IMO.

MikeUniformMike · 09/04/2019 14:53

Sally. Patience is a bit too much to live up to but could be shortened to Pat. Trixie is ok but I'd put Beatrix on the bc.

Calloway · 09/04/2019 15:21

Sally is the better spelling. Or Sali if you've any Welsh connections.

Really not a fan of virtue names.

IchibanLipstickForMen · 09/04/2019 15:53

Absolutely not Patience.
Don't like Sallie or Sally either but it's the better of the two.

KingHenrysCodpiece · 09/04/2019 15:54

Sally spelt properly, however it can be a bit....common (I hate the word chavy). Often gets shortend to 'Sal' which is just not great. In that regard I prefer Patience as it has more gravitas. Trixie is a good halfway between the two but what would you use for a middle name? So overall my vote goes to Patience, which is very pretty, but still grown up.

reefedsail · 09/04/2019 15:57

My favourite is Beatrix- Trixie fine as a nn.

Sally with a y if you go for that.

Switsy · 09/04/2019 15:59

Virtue names are so prissy. Chastity, Prudence, Patience, Hope - all awful!

Tiramisu1 · 09/04/2019 17:50

Are all Graces graceful? Probably not!

Patience is no different.

PlatypusLeague · 09/04/2019 17:50

Beatrix with Trixie as nickname. I quite like Patience too.

brodybear · 09/04/2019 17:55

I actually read sallie as 'say lee' because it's such a weird spelling I had to think twice.

Bellaposey · 09/04/2019 20:25

I'm not keen personally on your names (Just personal preference!) but thought straight away of Sadie? Beautiful name with a very similar sound to Sally/Sallie.

JustAnotherMillennial · 09/04/2019 20:43

Many years ago, my grandparents had a fox terrier called Trixie!

Sally, all I can think of is Sally from Home and Away Grin It seems a bit old-fashioned, and Sallie is worse imo.

I have a virtue name (mentioned above) and I hate it.

So Sallie wins.

mummymonica · 09/04/2019 20:48

Personally sally is maybe abit dated?
