Hello. We currently have a little girl named Cora.

Just want to hear some opinions on the name we have picked out.. not many people like it who we have told, which kinda sucks but that's ok.

🌈🌈honest opinions only. 🌈🌈 does it flow??

---> Della ivy Farina-Jones

Double barrel last name ( mine and my partners.. same as my first daughter)

I quite like Della. It’s my friend Daniellas nickname.

The only negative I can think is that it might blend in with the Bella/Ella’s

Cornettoninja · 05/04/2019 15:13

I’m not sure about Della. It’s a perfectly acceptable name it’s just not for me personally (but I’m old enough to remember Dell computers - I think they went bust)

Ivy, however, I really love. I think it’s a shame to waste that as a middle name. (Cora is a favourite of mine too)

homemadegin · 05/04/2019 15:15

I really like it. I do not know any Dellas.

The only thing is when I say Cora and della I get Cordelia. That may just be me. So she may get Delia?

Hollowvictory · 05/04/2019 15:16

It's OK. Not a fan of the surname the two names don't sound right double barrelled at all.

sirmione16 · 05/04/2019 15:20

I always struggle to hear a name flow when the first ends in a vowel and the second starts with a vowel. It takes my tongue too long to adjust! However saying that I love "Ivy" and never heard Della before and like that too!

KingHenrysCodpiece · 05/04/2019 15:23

Are you deliberately aiming for a 2 syllable name the same as your first daughter? If so then Della's cool, can imagine a Cora and a Della, otherwise I'm not overly keen as Della just sounds a bit old to me. Sorry, but you asked.

shumway · 05/04/2019 15:25

Cora and Della sounds like it will be misheard as Cora and Ella.

AndItStillSaidFourOfTwo · 05/04/2019 15:28

I like Della. Not keen on Ivy.

if that's your actual surname, I would consider getting the post edited, tbh.

Tinkoschminko · 05/04/2019 15:29

I’m getting cordial from the over all vibe. Also people at school will call her Del-boy... they won’t. It’s actually quite nice.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 05/04/2019 15:31

I prefer ivy as a first name

ArtichokeAardvark · 05/04/2019 15:36

I like both names but not together. Saying Della Ivy together out loud is clumsy.

tif17162 · 05/04/2019 15:43

Ivy is a middle name though not double barrel

OP posts:
tif17162 · 05/04/2019 15:44

What?

OP posts:
jiggsymalone · 05/04/2019 15:44

I agree with artichoke. Both are nice but I dont think they work together, I would change Ivy.

Yogagirl123 · 05/04/2019 15:49

Sounds lovely, I love the name Ivy. Great choice.

MamaDane · 05/04/2019 15:51

Too many names in my opinion, 1 first names 2 middle names and a double barrelled surname?

I'd just stick to Cora + surnames personally. It's a bit of a mouthful otherwise

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 05/04/2019 15:51

I like Della, unusual but non-pretentious.

Ilikethinkingupnewnames · 05/04/2019 15:56

Love it.

CaptainCabinets · 05/04/2019 15:59

@MamaDane Hmm the post is about two different children...Cora is DD1 and OP is looking for a name for DD2.

TixieLix · 05/04/2019 16:01

I like the names Della and Ivy, but as the first surname ends with an 'a', I personally would have avoided a first name that ended with an 'a'.

Wallabyone · 05/04/2019 16:02

Della is pretty, if it were me I'd probably go for Adele and use Della as a nickname.

ApplestheHare · 05/04/2019 16:02

Really like Della. Ivy is very, very popular here and that's put me off it.

17caterpillars1mouse · 05/04/2019 16:08

Oh I like Della its known but unusual which is always a perfect combination.

I've only ever known one Della (she's in her 60s) who is a very classy lady.

The only thing that would hold me back personally is Cora and Della both ending in an a

Shadow1234 · 05/04/2019 16:22

Love the name Della - but as others have said, doesn't flow well with Ivy (because one ends in a vowel and the other begins with a vowel). However, how often do we say our first and middle names together at the same time. I have only ever used my middle name to fill out documents and most people don't even know my middle name!

MamaDane · 05/04/2019 16:27

CaptainCabinets Ohhh I completely misread then.

Sorry OP. I read your post a little too fast. Blush Personally not keen on Della because it sounds like "deller" which means fat rolls in my language. Ivy is nice though 😊
