Hello. We currently have a little girl named Cora.

Just want to hear some opinions on the name we have picked out.. not many people like it who we have told, which kinda sucks but that's ok.

🌈🌈honest opinions only. 🌈🌈 does it flow??

---> Della ivy Farina-Jones

Double barrel last name ( mine and my partners.. same as my first daughter)

Della is beautiful, congratulations.

GreatDuckCookery · 05/04/2019 17:18

Apple Cora.

MikeUniformMike · 05/04/2019 18:34

Like Della, don't like Ivy.

IchibanLipstickForMen · 05/04/2019 19:18

Really don't like it! Especially as someone has pointed out that if you say Cora and Della it sounds like Cora and Ella.

Bridiehouse · 05/04/2019 22:37

I like it! It does sound nicknamey but I think a lot of the current popular names do. I love the name Decca (Jessica Mitford’s nickname) and it reminds me of that.

Ploppymoodypants · 05/04/2019 22:41

Love love love Cora. What a great name.

Also like Della. I only know one and she is in her early 40’s but I have known her since high school and she was a feisty funky rock chick, who everyone was in awe of. And she is really nice and kind too. So I have positive associations with the name.

bridgetreilly · 05/04/2019 22:43

I prefer Ivy Della.

DramaAlpaca · 05/04/2019 22:46

I like Ivy Della better too.

IHeartKingThistle · 05/04/2019 22:57

I think Della is sweet and goes great with Cora.

NutMeghan · 05/04/2019 23:01

I really like Della but would choose a different middle name (unless you have a special reason for choosing Ivy) as it doesn't flow very nicely. I do think Della goes nicely with your surnames though

Whoops75 · 05/04/2019 23:09

Her name gets lost if it comes second eg these are my children Cora anDella or at school, can Sophie anDella ...
it would put me off, sorry.

huggybear · 05/04/2019 23:18

Good point by a PP that Cora and Della sounds like Cora and Ella and you might be setting yourself up for unnecessary confusion. I don't really like Della but I think that's because the only one I've ever heard was the mum on Raised By Wolves!

MercyBodle · 06/04/2019 00:14

I'm not keen on Della. I like Ivy though. I think they sound okay together but not great - the a ending and I beginning run together. Della works fine with the surname and with sister Cora's name, but is just not my taste. Even though it's very popular I prefer the more classic Ella - but that doesn't go with Ivy.

ThanksItHasPockets · 06/04/2019 07:33

Not a fan of the surname the two names don't sound right double barrelled at all.

How unbelievably rude.

e22aed247a · 07/04/2019 09:58

I think Ivy Della flows much better too and then you can hear the ‘D’ sound so even though it’d be a middle name, it wouldn’t be confused for Ella. Ivy is much nicer imo and you can always call her by her middle name anyway.

Antonin · 07/04/2019 13:32

I think Della is an excellent choice. If you are worried about the d getting lost you just have to introduuce your DDs as Della and Cora. Della Ivy flows ok to my ear.

Sessy19 · 07/04/2019 21:36

Love LOVE both names OP, really pretty. A bit edgy. Both names are familiar but definitely not popular, in a GOOD way! Well done you!! 😊

Middle names don’t have to ‘flow’, they’re rarely said. And so what if you occasionally lose a ‘d’ if you are talking about both daughters....lucky for you, that means you get to say her pretty name twice 😝

Can’t believe how rude people can be, and how fucking boring to take the time out of their day to write rude comments here. Sigh. Lucky THEM!

Rainbowknickers · 13/05/2019 18:47

My middle name is fella and I hate it ive never met another one tho

Rainbowknickers · 13/05/2019 18:47

*della sodding phone

Teddybear45 · 13/05/2019 18:47

Ivy is a better name than Della.

Rainandwine · 13/05/2019 18:50

I think Della is really cool

I also love Delilah & Adeline which you could use Della from

Rainandwine · 13/05/2019 18:52

I just went to read all the comments as usually I defend people’s ‘rude’ comments as they’re on a name opinion thread giving their opinion

But piping up to say you hate someone’s surname WTAF?! Pretty sure that’s the bit that isn’t optional & doesn’t warrant comment - I mean there’s also nothing wrong with the surname but that’s irrelevant it’s still a strange thing to comment on

mumtobabygilrl · 16/05/2019 17:04

I like Della but Cora and Della together with the and in the middle make Della sound like Ella

Prefer ivy

Megan2018 · 16/05/2019 17:11

I prefer Ivy too.

Della Ivy is awkward to say and Cora and Della sounds like Cora and Ella as others have said.

Cora and Ivy though are lovely! One of my colleagues has an Ivy, it is a great name.
